About Me
CURRENT MISSION
World domination. No seriously? Understand people. They're so complicated. And learn to speak 7 languages fluently.
ABOUT ME
Okay. First off, I don't like talking about me. It's such a boring subject. But anyway, I'll try to not whine too much. I'm now 22 years old, and currently going for my Master's in translation. I study English, Spanish and French. Yes, I am a language nerd. I am also a ginormous Anglophile, meaning I like anything even remotely connected to the English language. As I was an exchange student in texas, now a little over a year ago, I'm very fond of the USA, but I'm in love with the British Isles as well --I hope this includes everything there. And well, Australia and New-Zealand just happen to be pretty awesome. I therefore want to travel through all of these regions/ countries, hence the couch surfing. I've also been studying Spanish for a while now, and I would very much like to get to know Spain and Latin-America in a non-conventional way. Because playing the tourist just isn't any fun.
PHILOSOPHY
This is a hard one. I'm one of those people who truly believe in honesty. That doesn't make me a saint, it just means that I cannot stand hypocrisy. But only from people I know really well, which, I know, sort of makes me a hypocrite too. Philosphy's so complicated... I also believe in karma, not because there's a Superpower or Higher Being (which there might as well be, I do not know enough to judge that), but because generally it is the most logical thing to do. If non-altruistic behavior makes a friend of yours unhappy, how can you be content? That sort of stuff. I also do tend to get a little carried away with this stuff. And deep. I like deep thoughts :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I don't entirely know what they mean by this. I want to be an avid surfer though, especially because the cultural exchange, i.e. OMG, we so totally would do it this way..., is just so much fun. My next mission is a trip around the UK and Ireland, together with a friend of mine. It would be awesome if we could do this through couchsurfing.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was an exchange student, and technically, it's an extensive and very drawn out version of couchsurfing. But that was awesome. Seriously. I also CS'ed in Scotland, when I went on a roadtrip there with a friend.
Interests
I like horsebackriding, both watching and riding. Also love books, preferably English. I'm one of those people that will just about pick up and read everything. I can rarely ever put a book down and give up on it. It's just too sad to let a story 'die'like that. I'm a fan of British humor, I love the Mighty Boosh, and well, Monty python -but you've got to be in the right mood. I also like to listen to music, not play. I'm as non-musical as they come. And well, I love lyrics that actually say something. I'm more into alternative music -and country, but that's a remnant of my stay in Texas. Artists I like include: Tori Amos, Foy Vance, the Fratellis, Trace Atkins, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, etc. I actually have a rather eclectic collection on my iPod, with music going from classical to metal. I just don't like screamo or whatever that's called and -generally- elctronic music, techno and such.
I've also recently picked up knitting and I might be addicted. If that's something you want to learn, feel free to ask :D

Music, Movies, and Books
As said before my taste in music is very eclectic. Same goes for books and movies. Though I'm more picky about movies. I cannot stand horror. Even thrillers are sometimes too much. Yes, this defines me as a wuss. I fully acknowledge that. I just don't like hinding behind my hands and peeping through my fingers to get some sense of what's going on.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Not too much. Oh yes, I went to Poland, to stay with a woman/ girl I met the year before. She was studying veterinarymedicine, and tagging along with my father, and we became friends. The next year -I was 15 or so- I went to Poland by myself and stayed with her. I was, and still am pretty proud of that, especially since at that time I had a really small bubble and did not like to get out of my comfort zone. It's probably one of the reasons I went on exchange later.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach or share? Don't know. I don't have that much knowledge or experience that people can see me as an encyclopedia. But in general, I think people will learn from one another anyway, especially when there's a cultural difference involved -however small. It's so easy to share a few things about culture, and understanding fortifies tolerance, which I believe is really important in this very globalized world.
