About Me
Trying to learn and discover all the little secrets in life and on earth. And trying to help the less fortunate person.
Still looking for the quotes that fit best to life and myself.
Life is a rollercoaster. Jump in for the ride, launch yourself at high speed, enjoy it, take the turns smoothly (in order not to get sick), and when you are at the end of the ride jump in again for a next experience!
You find me travelling and in the mountains. And working to pay for it. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am not so active anymore, but in years past I have been a City Ambassador for Zurich, a Country Ambassador for Switzerland, and a member of the Member Dispute and Safety Team.
Interests
So much ... let me think what are the main interests. Ah yes: getting to know new people, cultures and languages. See the world! Traveling is one of my top priorities.
Activities: (mountain)biking, skiing, dancing, hitchhiking, scuba diving, playing squash, swimming, sailing, hiking, sledging, organizing events, planning my trip around the world, concerts (classical, rock or techno, DnB), cooking once in a while, movies, books, puzzles, chess, flash mobs :)
When at home: listening to music, reading, cooking fancy meals, watching movies, hanging around on a couch . But usually I'm quite a busy run-around person. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: The Godfather, Ciudad de Dios, The Italian Job, Lord of the Rings, Sound of Music, A Clockwork Orange, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (and many more from the famous directors)
Music: anything (classic, jazz, punk, hardrock, trance, pop, ...). Listening to mostly Linkin Parc, Manu Chao, Enigma, The Prodigy and some random techno tunes lately. My latest love is DnB (drum 'n' Bass).
Books: serious stuff, but also classics. Just finished "Comorra", about the mafia world of Napoli, "Far From Home" about war childs and now reading the latest novel form Anna Politkovskaja (the one for which she was murdered). Also fantasy, including everything by Tolkien. Recently starting to read Terry Pratchett. :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Chinese Wall: awesome, sometimes more a mountain climb than a walk!
Italy: showing me the good things in life. The Italians have the saying "Sono nato stanco, vivo per riposare" (I have been born tired, I live to rest) for a reason. ;)
Not so much daredevil stuff up to know. Planning to change this, though.
Hitchhiking from Utrecht to Alicante and back. Basically this was a failure, because I tried to get to Morocco but Spain was too hard (and hot) and the beaches too tempting. :)
Mountaineering!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can show you how to make a nice salad or use a Moroccan tajine. Or show you how to ski. I cannot teach you Swiss German (yet), but I do love to learn some new languages. Or anything else that keeps you busy. Or tell you something about myself if you like to know. :)
I also love to discuss about history, culture or social-politics (but rather about the interesting social problems arising from politics than just political problems; the effects of communism or capitalism on societies are my interest, not these systems themselves).
