I´m a curious and rather talkative person - frequently characterized as bubbly. I have a love for places with a lively atmosphere, such as second hand markets where the items have their own (unknown) history. I am also interested in the great, small & tiny wonders of the world. I also seem to receive some kind of warped pleasure from visiting places which require an amount of physical effort, such as walking a large number of steps. My language skills are the result of occasional traveling and spending one year is student exchange in Izhevsk (Russia, near the Ural).

Home in Finland I like to pick mushrooms & berries, read escapist literature, visit art exhibitions & gigs, occasionally dance, do sports (running, yoga, ...), spend time with my friends, study and sing in a choir. Usually I have some kind of project (=unfinished thing) going on and I tend to get very enthusiastic whenever I get a new idea.

Visiting travelers: If you stay with me, you'll most likely also meet my boyfriend, whom I share the flat with. He's an electrical engineer, who works with prototyping & product development. He's been in student exchange in Nepal and is fond of the local culture.

I couchsurf & host mostly because I want to meet new (local) people and get experiences I otherwise wouldn´t.

Sufing: Riding the bicycle around Barcelona and preparing Finning-style mushroom pasta, staying in a lighthouse on Staten Island, touring New Jersey with an insanely fast-paced veteran traveler, visiting a cool bar in New York (Fat Cat) with a new friend and spending the New Year's in an art gallery on Upper East Side. Simply amazing people & experiences!

Hosting: Finland. Totally three times, all good experiences - sightseeing, eating together & chatting. Quality time. My guests have been considerate & even helped a bit around without separate prompting. Thank you!

Music: Morcheeba, Jose Gonzales, Aimee Mann, Tori Amos, Björk, Zero 7, indie pop, folk, jazz, occasionally classical (love Bartók). Anything melodic.
Books: at least those written by Neil Gaiman, Mika Waltari, Johanna Sinisalo or Tove Jansson.
Films: Le Havre; Tambien la lluvia; Crash; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Lion; Of Horses and Men (a few good ones that I remember). French films are often good but I´m not against Hollywood either.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in a shut-down outdoor pool with a friend. It was a very warm summer night and we had danced a lot and wanted to cool down. We crept under the fence and swam in the big pool (50 meters x 20 meters) and no guards came to catch us. On latter thought, the person manning the security camera may not have considered us a liability, but who knows...
