Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to experience as much as the world is willing to give me.
ABOUT ME
My name is Flint Grove. Before moving to Alaska, I lived in Lincoln Square, Chicago. Since moving to Alaska, I have traveled throughout the state as much as possible. When I'm not traveling through Alaska, I am thinking about traveling. During my travels I often look for volunteer opportunities and try staying with locals. Though, I've been known to find a park bench from time to time.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a Secular Jew. That being said, I have certain rules I follow-some are original, some borrowed. I try to reduce the amount of suffering I inflict upon this world. I'm a Mostly Veggie. I call a family member everyday. I try to give more than I take. I'm an ethical consumer. I want to love. I want to experience. Some say I'm liberal. I say I'm human. I do what I can, when I can. This is the only existence I'm going to experience. My existence must be meaningful. I committed to meaningful work. I don't have a TV. Though, I do gather around my radiator to listen to public radio. I'm not sure where I'm going. But, for now, I'm here. I'm living the life I love. That's good enough for now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My first Couch Surfing experience was in Galway, Ireland; where I was hosted by a bohemian gentleman named Oisin. Since that time, I have hosted quite a few people in Alaska. I have my summers off, so I am often looking for people to travel with as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Over the years, I have met the most incredible people from all walks of life. I have thumbed my way to Denali with two Israelis and a Frenchman. I have been to fish camp in Talkeetna and have surfed across the UK. I've been hosted not only on couches, but in tree houses as well as in the back of pickup trucks. All joyous experiences.
Interests
My interests are vast. In terms of outdoor activities, I enjoy sea kayaking and backpacking. On a daily basis, I allocate thirty-minutes for walks. And, twenty-minutes for reading. When I'm not walking or reading, I enjoy sitting in cafes. Just sipping coffee and writing. I love to journal about my experiences. For some reason, it's important to document my life experiences in this way. I think it's all we have. All we have is our life experience.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy reading the road atlas. That, and philosophy-Descarte, Thich Nhat Hanh, Frankl, and many others. All while listening to the likes of Levon Helm.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I ever experienced was loving someone who loved me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to create experiences with others. There are so many relationships to engage in. I want to experience them all. I want to listen and learn from the experiences of others. Our experiences are existential. They can be altering, and perhaps, life changing.
