About Me

Hi there, my name is Florian but you can call me Flo. I speak French, English and Spanish.

Long story short : I’m traveling solo for at least 8 months (might be way more if I work remotely). What I’m looking for :
1) Have fun, meet positive and open minded people.
2) Understand the culture of the places I visit (that can mean hiking or exploring nice urban / cultural spots)
3) Cook and share amazing meals (my dad is a cook, I was raised with homemade food, I won’t be the best cook in town but I swear I’ll always manage to eat well. More in a veggie mood atm but open to any kind of food as long as it tastes good !).
4) Jam with musicians (Went back on Drums / Cajon 2 years from now, played in bands with some friends in Paris)
5) Find some calm moments / spots to work on my personal projects.

I worked and managed with a lot of people so I’m used to connecting with people but I’m also very fine by myself. My friends say I'm funny, full of energy, and radiate positive vibes :D

Why do I have so few reviews ?

I created my account during my studies. I dedicated all my studies to learning foreign languages, international business and intercultural management. I did two exchange semesters : Norway and Mexico. There, I spend most of my time with locals who are now my long lasting friends !

By the end of my studies, I specialized in HR (more specifically in recruiting) and started to work for french companies in Paris. I went into HR because I love to understand and help people grow.

If the Covid didn’t came along, my CS profile would be full of rich experiences and references… Else, I managed to work 5 years in Paris, my job was to recruit nerds to work on nerdy projects (IT ou industrial) 😀 In November, I had the opportunity to negotiate my departure with my former employer so I got some time and money off to travel and do what matters to me so here I am !

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My actual plan is to travel for several months so I want to meet people and feel useful while visiting a place.

It’s always a good thing if I can be hosted (then I can clean / cook or be of any help), else let’s have a drink / meal / party together at least :)

By the way, I don’t consider CS as a dating app and I’m not looking for awkward situations. With that said, I’m firmly believing that I’ll meet extraordinary people !

Music, Movies, and Books

Musicwise, it really depends on the mood. I will always find pleasure to listen to a group that plays with passion and vibes well. I would say I’m maybe more into rock, funk, pop atm.

The groups I’m listening to actually : Peach Pit, The Backseat Lovers, Crumb, Flipturn, Radiohead, Puma Blue, Jungle, Parov Stelar, MorMor, Phendste, Portugal. The Man, Justice, Tame Impala, Daft Punk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Meters, Sting, The Revivalists, The Kooks, The Strokes, Isaac Delusion, Salvatore Gannacci, Parcels, Khruangbin, Anderson Paak, Empire of The Sun, Hoobastank, The Blaze, Måneskin…

By the way, I created a playlist for my trip, you’ll have to add at least a song if we meet :D

A French contemporary philosopher, Charles Pépin, wrote one of the most impactful books I’ve read so far. In “La rencontre, une philosophie”, he explores the significance of encounters in our lives. Pépin argues that these chance meetings shape our identities, beliefs, and paths in profound ways. He delves into philosophical concepts to illustrate how encounters can spark transformation, expand perspectives, and foster connection with others. Through anecdotes and philosophical insights, Pépin explores the richness and complexity of human interactions, emphasizing their importance in shaping our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

I don’t watch much movies even tho I love to discover new ones (I can still say that I love LOTR / Star Wars as I’m a 90 kid hehe), I’m binge watching series from time to time :)

I played a lot of video games tho, clearly too much League of Legends and I try my best at Super Smash Bros when I’m with my friends !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Enhancing my creativity - Within the last 2 years, I jammed with 3 separate groups of friends and even played a very few times publicly even though I’m still a beginner, did some improv theater matches, played and directed actors in a short movie for a friend for the Nikon Film Festival.

With all that, I met extraordinary people and new friends but before all it brought me joy and a deeper appreciation of myself :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an avid learner, I've explored many topics and I'm always eager to receive and share new findings :)

If we can play some music together, it would be a pleasure to do so (I have drumsticks and a pad with me) ! I can share with you the setlist of the songs I’ve already played if you want.

Let's share some recipe and cooking techniques !

I love to talk about philosophy, spirituality and sociology.

As my travel starts in Italy, I'm trying to learn the basics and I would love to learn more. I can help you with your French and I'm able to communicate in English and Spanish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In addition to sharing enriching stories and experiences, I am always ready to help my hosts with household chores, cooking, or anything else they may need.

I expect to have authentic moments and to create sincere connections with my hosts. I hope to discover the local culture in an immersive way, sharing meals, conversations, and activities with them. The most important aspect for me is to leave a positive impact wherever I stay.
