About Me

Hey there fellow couchsurfer,
I am Florian and I am from Hamburg, Germany. I work as a project manager in a company that sells Wind Turbines, being responsible for process improvements and team building workshops. In my free time I like to read - it is my preparation for our next trip to Iran. Two years ago I started Kite-surfing, which I thouroughly enjoy, though I do not get to go to the sea too often to practice as much as I would like to. My girlfriend Kathi and I we really like to cook. Recently we have leaned towards the Israeli cuisine, maybe due to the fact that we just got a great cook book called Jerusalem (highly recommendable). Also, we enjoy going out, meeting friends and e.g. playing cards. On one of our last trips we learned a great Russian card game which is absolutely addictive (it is called Durak = "dummy"!) and which I am always happy to teach :). Finally, Kathi and I really enjoy getting to know the local Art scene when we are traveling , e.g. We really enjoyed street art in Val paraiso or wynwood in Miami.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Actually, I have been on Couch Surfing, before. Little over three years ago I closed my account due to privace rule changes and the fact that I never really used it on my trips. Now, I cannot seem to reactivate my account. The fact that I never really ended up using it before explains also, why I want to try it now. Kathi and I have travelled (between us) North & South America, South-East Asia and Europe, and enjoyed the usual backpacking experience in hostels. It feels like it is time for a change and for more encounters with "real" locals. I hope it will open up a world which is closed to the "tourist" and give more understanding to different perspectives on life and the world.
