CURRENT MISSION
Exploring the world and bringing people together
ABOUT ME
Hi there! I'm Flo from Frankfurt, passionated backpacker and hitchhiker. As most of you I love traveling, exploring new countries, hiking up the mountains, savoring the local specialities, but first of all meeting lovely people and share good times together. We can learn so much from each other and CS is a great platform to exchange thoughts, ideas and warm-heartedness.
When I'm not backpacking and hitchhhiking around the world, I organise and lead study tours to different regions of Germany, France, the UK and North America. I absolutely love my job, especially having the opportunity to travel so much and meeting a bunch of interesting and inspiring people from all over the world.
My friends would certainly describe me as very vibrant, energetic and talkative, always looking for adventures, which is absolutely true. However, I can also be very good listener and really enjoy giving my whole attention to someone's story.
Well, I think it will be the best if we just meet up and get to know each other. Probably way easier than writing too much here...
PHILOSOPHY
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the number of moments that take your breath away. - Maya Angelou
The less you need, the freer you become.
There is no certainty; there is only adventure.
Some people really live, the others just practice.
Les folies sont les seules choses qu'on ne regrette jamais. - Oscar Wilde
Die beste Bildung findet ein gescheiter Mensch auf Reisen. - Goethe
Life is too short to drink bad wine. - Goethe
Et kütt wie et kütt. Et es wie et es. Und et hät noch emmer jot jejange. - Article 1-3 Kölsches Grundgesetz

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've started CS in 2009 and it has really changed my life. I've learned so much, I've met incredible people and I can barely imagine my life without Couchsurfing anymore. I really love it!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I like adventure movies with breathtaking landscapes like "Into The Wild" or "The Last Trapper", also psycho thrillers, horror movies, good comedies and actually every movie that has the potential to inspire me or to teach me something new. However I have to admit that I don't watch TV and movies that often. I prefer reading, doing sports and spending time outside.
Music: I used to work at a radio station, so I have a very special relation to music. What I really like is Classic Rock, New Wave, Disco, Jazz, Classical music...mostly older stuff. I love the music of the 70s and 80s, e.g. ACDC, Genesis, Status Quo, Dire Straits, Queen, Roxette..., but also German songs from that time. And I'm the greatest fan of the music culture from the city of Cologne (Kölschrock and Carnival Music).
Books: I do read a lot, mostly nonfiction about psycholgy, history, politics, nutrition, medicine and spiritual approaches, travel books, political magazines, newspapers, but I also enjoy exciting novels, adventure stories and classics- really depending on my mood:-)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, I know that might sound weird, but I'm German Sauna Champion and I've invented my own sport: football table tennis. When we get the chance to meet and if you're interested, I would be glad to show you how it exactly works.
And of course, so many magic travel moments with hitchhiking and Couchsurfing, the beautiful nature of Canada, Georgia and Colombia, Indian summer in New England, Mount Fuji in Japan, mountains and beaches in Corsica, wildlife in Costa Rica, amazing islands in Croatia, the picturesque Black Forest...but first of all a lot of incredible people that I will never forget in my life.
And for sure the certitude how funny and amazing everyday life can be sometimes...
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really interested in languages and foreign cultures. I would love to learn a few expressions in your native language and immerse into your culture. And of course I can also teach you some German, even some special dialects and tell you more about traditions and oddities of the German culture.
I'm really into food and wine. So maybe we can cook together or check out one of the great restaurants nearby.
If you need any travel advice for Germany or France feel free to ask.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Some really funny CS stories, my cooking skills, guided tours in and around Frankfurt, the best hitchhiking tips and even the realization in which way CS, hitchhiking and my way of travelling has changed my life and let me become a much more open-minded, positive and laid-back person- also in everyday life and many difficult situations.
