About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Immerge myself in the world of graduate studies

ABOUT ME

Once I thought that I knew who I was and what I wanted to do with my life. But one class of sociology disturbed this nice painting and threw me back into "real life". Even if I don't know how to save the world, I'll definitely try to make it a better place as far as I can.

From time to time I realize how addicted to (classical) music I am, especially to playing chamber music with friends. But whenever I find the time I'm actually studying chemistry (I still have to figure out how to save the world with chemistry though...).

PHILOSOPHY

"Sometimes, when you've a very long street ahead of you, you think how terribly long it is and feel sure you'll never get it swept. And then you start to hurry, you work faster and faster, and everytime you look up there seems to be just as much left to sweep as before, and you try even harder, and you panic, and in the end you're out of breath and have to stop - and still the street stretches away in front of you. That's not the way to do it. You must never think of the whole street at once, understand? You must only concentrate on the next step, the next breath, the next stroke of the broom, and the next, and the next. Nothing else. That way you enjoy your work, which is important, because then you make a good job of it. And that's how it ought to be. And all at once, before you know it, you find you've swept the whole street clean, bit by bit. What's more important, you aren't out of breath. That's important, too." (Momo by Michael Ende)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Trying to get the most out of traveling and giving back all the amazing experiences I made and make around the world by hosting and showing people around where I live.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After many "couchsurfing" experiences with people that haven't heard of CS until then, I slept on my first "real" couch in Quebec City in 2009.

Since then I have traveled with some CSers, slept on several couches and were lucky enough to host some myself.

Hopefully only the beginning of a wonderful story.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: almost all kind of, especially classical music, followed by Jazz, Rock, Funk, Pop, A cappella, International etc., not too much electro, house or similar, no techno at all. But don't ask me band names or song titels. It's a mystery to me how people can memorize any of them!

Movies: La vita e bella, Memento, Inception, Lord of the Rings, most Tarantino movies, an probably much more, but I always forget the titles (see above).

Books: Terry Pratchets Diskworld novels, Das Parfüm, Le petit Nicolas, Wheel of time, LotR, Mord im Zeichen des Zen...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-played Mahler's Sinfony No.5 and Tchaikovsky's No.6
-hiked on the cliffs of Slieve League
-snorkeld at Blue Hole in Egypt
-climbed up the rice terraces on the Philippines
-Joshua Redman in a double trio at the Montreal Jazz Festival
-hitchiked from St. John's, Newfoundland, to Montreal
