About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be content and happy with my lot in life.

ABOUT ME

Folk from other countries.
I have a special interest in refugees and their stories. I have worked with an Afghani family, one from Djibouti, and another from Republic of Congo. Awesome folk with some sad stories in their past that brings them to become refugees.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to leave fingerprints on people's hearts. I want to make a difference to the world in some small way, even if to just host someone in my home for a day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really enjoy having folk come to my home and stay. I love to bake and make sure they are happy and safe and feel like part of the family.
Whenever someone comes to my home, it is their home too, and will always be even when they leave.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had the most wonderful people come and stay with us. The hardest part is having to say goodbye...but as one couchsurfer said to me, at least with this site we can remain in touch. And that makes it all easier.

Interests

Art, singing, reading, spinning, knitting.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love going to movies. Love Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, etc.
Sidney Sheldon would be my favourite author.
As for music...Poets of the Fall(awesome), Blue October, Disturbed, Seether, The Feelers, Loreena McKennit and other Irish folk music, etc. Even some opera is ok.
I enjoy most genres really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Niagara Falls! Awesome and powerful.
I held a baby python in Traverse City, Michigan - that was an interesting experience.
I have bungy-jumped off a bridge in the South Island.
When in Gisborne, NZ, recently I was in a boat and thousands of large Kingfish were swimming underneath us. A definate 'wow' moment I will treasure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe in the movie "Pay It Forward" where the idea is to not pay someone back for a good turn, but to do something nice for someone else who comes into your life. Watch the movie - it's very good.
Encourage those who pick up rubbish from the streets or who clean up your table when you vacate it, and take time to listen to them tell their stories. There are some interesting folk out there in the world who we often pass by. A smile is easy to give away and there are plenty more to share.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, Indonesia, United States
