About Me
"Yo tampoco sé vivir, estoy improvisando"
I was born in France and raised in Brazil. Having lived in between both countries has opened my eyes to the beauty of pluriculturalism and adaptability.
I traveled a lot around South America and it is where I feel most at home. Where I feel connected.
I'm a very curious person and definitely better at listening than talking. I am calm but very sociable. I don't like labels.
I am a food enthusiast. I was always interested in food and cooking, from my youngest age. Recently, I have been working in different kitchens, getting hands-on experience. I worked for a couple of months as a pastry chef then moved on to work in a small thai restaurant. I will soon be in Copenhague for an internship.
I am interested in the sustainable, local and social aspects of food. In food for thought. In cooking with time, understanding the processes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think Couchsurfing offers a very special approach on travelling.
It's a unique chance to connect with locals and have a different experience than you'd have staying in a "mainstream" type of accommodation.
It also kind of re-defines what it even means to travel; I don't want to simply go somewhere, try some typical food and visit the "must-see" touristy places. What really drives me is talking to people, in order to understand how the place works, what are the dynamics, the reasons why they are eating that specific dish...things like that.
I think what really brought me here is this connection.
Interests
I love eating and trying new food but also cooking. I love to spend time on the internet, reading recipes and blogs. That's where I get some of my inspiration. I love talking about food, and hearing people talk about food too.
Despite not being vegan I've been really interested in vegan recipes lately -on how to substitute more traditional ingredients like butter and eggs. It's not that hard (in most cases) and I like to use it as a challenge. I love vegan desserts!
I like taking photos when I'm travel, capturing the city and small details I see.
Street art really speaks to me, whether it's graffiti/a mural per say or an urban installation, a note on a wall.. I love urban interventions, they make the city more human and create a dialogue..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking all the way from Keflavik to Hólar, 362 km apart. It was my first time in Iceland and my first time ever hitchhiking by myself.
I used to windsurf on Lago Paranoá, Brasília's lake. One of the best feeling I have ever experienced. I felt totally free and alive. Letting the wind take me.
I was invited to cook, for a night, at my friend's collaborative restaurant. Me and my best friend, who would cook with me, agreed on a menu, thought about the whole process together. We went to the market together, picked everything we needed. It was one of the most beautiful things, to see familiar faces there, having our food, conceptualised and cooked by us and having a good and happy time.
