About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get my travel bug out of my system for a bit

ABOUT ME

I'm a hopeful environmental professional and aspiring artist who's spent the last while bouncing around between camping and trailbuilding is various parts of the Western U.S. and attending school and socializing in Phoenix and Portland. Right now Portland is my base, though I'll be spending the next several months traveling and WWOOFing in Europe.

PHILOSOPHY

Harm reduction, radical consent, and Stewart Brand's Clock of the Long Now. On an aesthetic level, I struggle with Greenbergian criticism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed briefly in Tucson, Arizona, while leading a trail crew, and now I am looking for lodging on a 3-week, multi-country trip to Europe. When I am more settled eventually, I would love to host as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Little so far, but I hope to both surf and host thru this site.

This doesn't ask about TV, but to my possible detriment I'm going to point out that, most of the time, Tim and Eric's Awesome Show is what I'm looking for in entertainment

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Does recovering from depression count?

If it doesn't, I'm going to go with amazing things I've seen, and go with the gnarled trees on the Oregon Coast, that the wind has bent back so far that they are basically growing at a great angle to the east. Can never get enough of those.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to share figure drawing as a practice, and I'm pretty well learned in Environmental Studies. I also love to rant at anyone who will listen about my time as an operator at the Reed Research Reactor and my feelings on nuclear policy both in the United States and worldwide.

I'm looking for people who in general can sharpen my reasoning skills, and also those who can help me develop more extensive artistic, construction, and DIY skills.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy debate and I will play devil's advocate in the most non-confrontational way possible.

I clean up after myself, and am down to either chat and share my adventures, or quietly do my own thing
