About Me

I'm a recent History and English Lit graduate from The University of Sheffield. My boyfriend and I are moving to Australia next year and are looking for places to stay where we can meet new people and share travel experiences! We are looking for a sociable host that we can chat to and get to know as we love meeting new people and are extremely personable ourselves. We are looking to get jobs out there but are wanting to find places to stay in the interim period whilst we settle into Australian life! After doing an internship with Penguin Random House the publishing house in London I am looking for a marketing/publicity role in a publishing house, so I may be couch surfing for a while before I find such a role! I am planning on moving around while doing this so as not to tie any hosts down to long periods of couch surfing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am really looking forward to the couch surfing experience as I have always found meeting new like-minded people one of the most rewarding parts of travelling .

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite book is always one of the hardest questions for me. The most recent book I have fallen in love with is The Line Becomes A River by Francisco Cantu. I went to one of his book readings in London and met the author and he was an astounding man. I have always loved the 'noble savage' concept in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and it will forever be one of my favourite books. The Secret Life of Bees was my favourite book as a teenager. In terms of plays, I love Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire and Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra. A real variation as you can see!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am big into fundraising and charity work, in a recent charity event which I organised single-handedly I raised over £1,000 for a charity extremely close to my heart. I am extremely proud of this.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach, Learn, Share:

I am unsure what this section requires of me but I am all up for teaching, learning and sharing travel experiences and cultural variations! I love learning about different cultures and teaching others about the weird habits within my own!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am extremely laid back (as is my boyfriend) and there is little that phases either of us. We are eager to meet someone friendly who can tell us about their city! We are planning a Malaysia/Indonesia trip in the months before we land in Australia, and we have done lots of travelling previously throughout Asia etc., so we would love to chat to you about our experiences!
