ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Florence Leang (Chinese name: Lee Sze, means beautiful poem) but to most people I am simply known as Flo. I was born and raised in Kuching, Sarawak which is part of a beautiful tropical island known to the world as Borneo Island. I am currently a 5th year medical student in Russia's 4th biggest city, Nizhniy Novgorod.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, I am just a student and I cannot host as I live in a student hostel. But I would definitely love to host when I return to Malaysia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Amsterdam: Stayed with Robert in his Amsterdam apartment. He is such a kind man. Best memories: Made our own homemade Chinese steamboat and took wacky pictures; He showed me pictures and memorabilia from his travels to India and beyond; Had deep conversations on life and family!

Brussels: Stayed with Lieke, Peter and kids in their beautiful family home in Dendermonde. Best memories: Tasting and learning about Belgian beers with Peter; Watched a beautiful meteor shower from their back garden while munching on Belgian chocolates; Had deep conversations about education and life!

Hamburg: Stayed with Agen and Tobias! Fun fellows! Best memories: Agen drove us around to get groceries in a big supermarket; Agen's laugh; Tobias brought us around town and Red Light District and a nice German bar!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love weird, sad movies like Atonement, Creation, Nowhere Boy, The Boy In Striped Pyjamas. I play the violin and I love music. My musical play list ranges from Haydn, Schubert to The Cure, Queen, to Kings of Leon, The Strokes and so on. I love reading classic novels and short stories and my favorite poet is E.E. Cummings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched a meteor shower when I went camping with friends. When an orphan baby orang utan hugged me (I cried!). Snorkeling in Sabah's ocean and island hopping.
