About Me

Currently: Climbing lots of mountains in Colorado, doing math and being a single cat dad.

Permanently: Part Texan, part Michigander, a little Kansan. Finishing my PhD at Colorado state and enjoying every nanonsecond of it. I like laughing, beer, math, being outside and my baby fluffapotamus.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Quite the wonderful way to meet lots of great folk!

Interests

Oh, there's quite a few...enjoying Taco Bell after a long climb; trail running in the dark on the Front Range of Colorado (sans headlamp!); attempting routes on 14ers I was barely prepared for (I'm looking at you Long's peak!); drinking too much with my friends on official (and unofficial!) holidays; sleeping in the bitter cold outside; meandering through the slot canyons of southern Utah, spending time thinking about the Lefschetz properties; wishing I could utilize local cohomology more; learning how to stop when skiing; and always finding a way to wear less clothes!

Music, Movies, and Books

A genuine interest in all music (and yes, even a verified country music fan!). I'm a huge Clint Mansell and Hans Zimmer nerd.

I'm generally interested in nonlinear narratives (e.g. my life) in terms of books and movies. I'm always up for that avant-garde film (El Top and Holy Mountain!) or that artsy shocker (Antichrist).

Overall, I don't cherish anything too dearly, but I'd at least like to hear a Britney Spears song on my death bed.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Attempt (and succeed!) a class 3 route after not a lot of mountaineering experience. Spoiler alert: Don't try this at home (or ever).

Teach, Learn, Share

I love hearing stories and just getting to know people! I have lots of stories to share and I really do enjoy hearing about how people who live far, far away spend their days.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My extraordinarily loud laughs and sneezes :) And perhaps a little bit of that not-so-famous Colorado sunshine!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, Latvia, Mexico, Russian Federation, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Russian Federation, United States
