About Me

Hi, my name is Florian Deitmerg and I'm 20 years old now.
While I'm writing this, my last A-Level exam is just a few hours ago.
I grew up in Herscheid, a small village in Germany. I'm also doing my vocational training as an educator right now (it's 4 years, but compared with my A-Levels). So I will work one year as an educator and will finish my training in 2016.

When I'm not learning for school or looking after children in the kindergarten, I make music by myself, also listen to music, read books and try to learn polish. We will see if it works.
A new hobby I've dicovered a few years ago, is "outdoor" if you'd try to say it in one word. In detail it's hiking with friends a few days through the forests, bushcrafting in the woods of Herscheid and training some survival-skills, -and it's a lot of fun.

If you want to know more about me, please don't be shy to ask! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Today (19. May 2015) I was planning my holidays for this summer. I realized, that I haven't got enough money for my plans. I wanna buy a new bagpack for hiking, go a few days to Amsterdam with a few friends and discover Poland for a few days. At the very latest after the bagpack I realized, that there won't be enough money for travelling around.

I remembered a friend, who told me about "couchsurfing" and I thought a few minutes about it. I love it to see more of the world (and in Herscheid you haven't seen very much of it) and I really want to get to know the people and the culture of the countries. Last year in Italy I realized, that living in a tourist-village seperates you from the real face of the country.

I think couchsurfing is a good possibility to learn more about a country, it's culture and the people. I also think, that it's a good way to get to know new people. And incidentally it protects our purse and makes it possible to do all theses things. :)

Interests

I love listening to music and also making music is a great hobby of mine.
I have a small Acoutic-Rock and Fairytale One-Man-Band called "Nekrolog" where I compose songs by my own with my guitar.
Furthermore I play drums since the age of 6 years.

I love reading books (and also tried to write some ... TRIED) and I like the genre Fantasy.

Sometimes I go hiking with a friend for a few days and I go into the forest to enjoy the nature.

I also have a project called "WorldFriendshipBracelet". The aim is to connect as many people as possible as friends and for this I'm creating some bracelets.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorit music comes from the "dark-scene". I don't think that bands like "ASP", "Samsas Traum", "Die Kammer", "HENKE", "Faun" or "Omnia" are a household name for you, but if you want, you can check them out.

I love movies, but unfortunately I don't have much time to watch them. But "Lord of the Rings", "Into the Wild", "The hobbit", "Avatar", "Game of Thrones" or "A Beautiful Mind" are some movies I really like.

For books I also don't have as much time as I would like to have, but I like Fantasy-Books like "Chronicles of Ancient Darkness" by Michelle Paver, "The Hobbit", "Harry Potter", but also non-fictional books like "Die große Volksverarsche" by Hannes Jaenicke, "Fearless Death" by Lama Ole Nydahl, or "Mein Leben" - the biography by Mahatma Gandhi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In november 2014 I wanted to test my new hammock in the forest. It became dark very fast, so I hurried up to build up ma hammock and my tarp. Then a rope broke I was lying half on the ground. But it was too dark to fix it. So at 5pm it was very dark. At 9pm it began to rain very heavy and I was lying alone in the deepest forest. It rained and rained. At 8am the next morning It was light enough to see something. So I had breakfast broke up my camp and went home, - in the rain.

Sounds not very funny, but I can tell you: It was one of the best nights ever! :)
