About Me

*profile not all up to date*

I don't really like describing myself, prefer getting to know each other face to face, but'll give it a try anyway^^
Easy-going, opened minded, patient and very hard to stress. I really enjoy being with interesting people and having a good conversation (preferably in combination with a nice meal and/or a drink), even though I sometimes struggle with some kind of shyness. Especially in larger groups I tend to become more of an observer...
As much as I appreciate some company, I occasionally need some time on my own to think, dream, or just enjoy the miracle of existence ;)
Only thing I can't stand are people disrespecting other beings for no reason (racism, specism, homophobia, etc). Life and let life!
As long as you're harming no one, things should be alright :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It allows one to feel and actually be at home in the whole world! To become kind of a local within no time, instead of just visiting...
In my opinion it's the best way to travel and really get in touch with a place and some oft its people.
It is always nice to meet some new, interesting and interested people (travellers, hosts, volunteers, locals and who ever comes across your way), to learn about their life and gain some "insider tips", instead of just rushing through and ticking of the touristic sights.
I'm travelling for the people (and the freedom, the landscape and an exchange of different ways of life, thinking, etc.), not just to fulfill a schedule...
In return giving a bed to some fellow travellers, listening to their storys and helping them out as good as possible is always satisfying and inspiring :)

Couchsurfing experience:
Unfortunately I didn't use the request-function earlier, didn't care about references and did a lot of spontaneous surfing.
So apparently I surfed/hosted way more than shown on my profile^^

Interests

Travel the world (who would have guessed on cs?!)...
I love to see new, exciting parts of the world and meet new people, who can tell a story, or two about their adventures, or even their daily life and share some experiences.
Also I'm interested in the history and culture, of the places I'm visiting and in different ways/concepts of living.

Love animals and nature - especially the sea.

Beside of that I really enjoy good books to take me to other worlds, taking a ride on my bike, sailing, beeing in nature (!) and having a nice (vegan) meal.

I also like to try different sports, but there is none i'm practicing seriously - just some occasional swimming, kayaking, hiking, biking, tennis, climbing, or whatever comes to my mind, or is suggested by someone. But in general I like beeing active and/or outside and eager to try new stuff. Even though I can just sit on the seaside and watch for hours, or lie in a field feeling the sun and the grass on my skin and enjoy it at least as much...

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm open to nearly every kind of music. Mostly I'm listening to punk, indie/alternative, rock, metal, swing, jazz, blues, 60's and psychedelic rock'n'roll, reggae, some electronic, acoustic and classical music and a lot of stuff without a specific genre. Also I'm always hyped by live gigs and eager to discover new!

Recently I just fell in love with the 'café del mar' playlists on youtube/spotify. How do you call this kind of music? O.o

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left my front door and followed the road ever on and on...
A cookie for everyone, who recognizes where this is adapted from ;)

Beeing alive. Travelling. Helping people.

Besides that and a few other nice things (I enjoy my life with all the small and big ups and downs - which also often lead to something beutiful), I travelled through Italy for 7 month in an old, hippie-like van, which I unfortunately had to sell, because afterwards it actually just had become to old and rickety to maintain it with my low/unexistent engineering skills.
But it was an amazing trip with absolutely no pressure. We moved when and where we wanted and stayed as long as we liked and where we liked - a few times directly at the beach, at the port (literally next to the dock), or in the mountains, three weeks in Rome, three in Venice, etc. :)

Hitchhiked from cologne to Athens (even though I didn't plan to go there originally), started boathiking and ended up sailing some months as deckhand/first (and only^^) mate on a charter yacht in the Aegean Sea :)

Bought an old motorcycle in California and went roadtriping for some weeks, mostly hammocking in the woods!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to listen to some storys of your past and upcoming travels and tell some of mine.
Also I like to cook, even so I'm certainly not the best cook, but I'm eager to learn new (vegan, or adaptable) recipes, or show you something of my limited knowledge.
And I'm always into hearing about the local culture, history, storys, traditions, drinks, special places, music, etc. :)
Learning how to say 'Cheers' in as many languages as possible...

I would be happy, if someone could teach me a little bit of standard and Latin dancing! Never tried it, but recently I watched some people and would like to know at least the basics.
I like craft works, so if there is something you need some help with (one of my best Saturday evenings I had with a CS host, included building a closet for their shared flat!), or could show/teach me, it's always appreciated!
Especially some motorbike maintenance. I have almost no experience at all, but would like to be able to take better care of my bike on my own...
If there is something else you could teach me (probably quite a lot), or you want to learn from me, I'm always open to. Not sure what I could teach, but maybe there is something, I'm not aware of, so we'll see ;)
