About Me

Hello guys, I'm 29 years old and I've been traveling for the last 3 years. My love for backpacking I developed in winter 2016 when I was traveling with some friends to Vietnam and Cambodia. It was the first time I spent my holidays in this way and it was one of the best decisions in my life. It was such an amazing experience for me to see new countries and cultures outside of the typical tourist bubble that I made the decision to continue my further travels in the same way. Before that I used to go to resorts where I stayed the whole vacation in the same hotel and at the same beach. I didn't get to know the actual culture. What a shame if I think back.

Since my first backpacking experience I tried to use all the free time I had to explore the world and its different cultures and I'm really looking forward to visit as many countries as possible.
2017 I visited the Philippines and it was again an incredible experience for me. I stayed there for 6 weeks and made my first experience in solo backpacking. My first steps solo backpacking showed me how easy it is to get in contact with people while traveling and it became clear to me that there aren't many obstacles that would be able to stop me from exploring the world.

After finishing my Bachelor's Degree in September 2018 I started my current trip. Initally, I had the plan to do my master's degree after 5 months of traveling but it seems that's postponed for now. My current plan is to travel around the world as long as possible. I came to the conclusion that I wanna use the time when I'm young and healthy to explore the world.

I'm a friendly and open minded guy who is always keen to see and experience new countries and cultures. I love being in the nature but I also enjoy catching the vibe of different cities. When I'm in cities I often start my exploration with strolling around, getting lost and trying out some food. I enjoy hiking and like taking pictures, mostly of landscapes. I would like to spend more time in nature but somehow I often end up staying in cities, mostly for logistical reasons.
I don't like big hords of tourists. The place to visit can be the most beautiful but if there are too many people, they ruin it imo.
I don't drink and I'm not really a fan of bars and pubs. When I go out, I mostly go to raves since I'm a huge fan of techno music. I like the positive and loving vibes on raves.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Before I started Couchsurfing I heard a lot of positive things about it. Most people were telling it would be an unique experience which enables you to dive in in the culture of different nations. So I gave it a try and what shall I say...I almost had just good experiences so far which convinced me to continue couchsurfing.
I love the fact that Couchsurfing enables me to escape the typical tourist spots. Often the CS hosts know some nice spots which aren't overcrowded by tourists. Furthermore, I really appreciate having conversations with locals to learn more about their habits, culture, language and of course food.

Music, Movies, and Books

My all-time favourite genre is Techno. Furthermore I like Psytrance, Rap, mostly old-school tho, a little Dancehall etc.

I actually haven't seen a movie for a while. Last thing I was watching was Peaky Blinders and Family Guy.

When I was young I read a lot of books, it was my favourite hobby. But then computers and TVs came into my life and I read less and less. For a few years I hardly touched any books (except the ones in school we had to read). But I'm glad to be able to say that during my travels I learned to appreciate books again.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Three years backpacking despite all the Corona-madness.
Climbing volcano Acatenango in Guatemala to watch from there another volcano erupting.
Staying overnight in the desert and watch the stars and the sunrise.
Visiting the highest border in the world in Pakistan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn more about different cultures all over the world and I'd like to see how people in other parts of the world live, think etc. It's also important for me to explore the local cuisine!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences I made so far on my travels, a good laugh. I'm always bad thinking about stuff like that.
