ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Florian. I lived in Heidelberg, Germany and loved the city. Now I moved to Göttingen in order to go to med school and eventually become a doctor in many years time (hopefully!)! :D I love traveling and meeting interesting people. I'm a very curious person and there's barely anything I don't find interesting (except for maths lessons in school!). I don't mind sleeping in strange places and actually had the best sleep in my life on the floor of a ferry from Cherbourg in France to Rosslare, Ireland! :D

PHILOSOPHY

I'm convinced that everyone knows something that i don't know yet and that's a beautiful chance to learn, whatever it might be
I try to be as open minded as possible and to see the positive side in everything and every living being. Sometimes I have to remind myself to be loving and avoid judging, because I think it's a challenge every day, but so worth it because hate and negativity don't serve anyone well.
I believe that even small things can make a great difference and if everyone starts with getting to know oneself and taking one step at a time, the whole world improves in the long term.
there are two quotes that resonate with me in particular. One is Gandhi's famous "Be the change you want to see in the world"
and the ending of "A river runs through it":
"Eventually, all things merge into one and there's a river running through it"

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I've only surfed, but never hosted anyone. I'm really greatful for the lovely people that opened their homes to me. They were really inspiring me to think about many things in a different light, which I absolutely appreciate and helped me see places I wouldn't have gotten to know otherwise. I enjoy the spirit of couchsurfing a lot. Just the idea of sharing (your home, your food, ideas, laughs) appeals to me. Being spontaneous and open and just generally positive towards the world and also trusting people is what makes up a big part of couchsurfing in my experience.
I would really love to host some people in order to experience the other side of couchsurfing, meet even more people and give some of the great experiences back to others.

Musica, film e libri

All kinds of music. From charts to classic to reggae to rap. I'm always really happy when someone introduces me to new music that I didn't know before.
Movies: "There's a river running through", "21 Jump Street", "The place beyond the pines"
Books: Walden Two, Siddhartha (I really like Hermann Hesse's writing), Harry Potter, The book of Mirdad... unfortunately, I'm not reading as much as I would like to at the moment due to the amount of reading I have to do for uni, but I love being drawn into a book. So as with the music, if you have any great books which you think have to be read, please tell me ;)

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I lived in Cork, Ireland for four months as part of an exchange and had a fantastic time there. After highschool I went on an Interrail tour through Europe with a friend and did rafting and canyoning. we climbed a waterfall in Slovenia only equipped with swim shorts and had a gret time.
I know the list is already more than 1 amazing thing I've done, but I just can't leave out learning to scuba dive in Thailand. Being able to access a whole new world hidden underwater and seeing beautiful animals in their natural environment is a great blessing. I especially love the moments when I forgot that I was just diving. These were breathtaking (no pun intended :P)

Insegna, impara, condividi

I'd consider myself to be a good cook and I enjoy cooking and eating with others and thereby sharing recipes and creative dishes. I'm very much into sports and would love to learn how to surf! Plus, I enjoy everything that's new and interesting!
