Hi there! I'm Florian. I was born in the lonely countryside that is southern Germany and moved to Berlin after finishing high school. I have been studying English and journalism for more than four years and am on the brink of getting my BA (or might have been so for a year 😃).

I run a blog about internet culture which, unfortunately, only exists in German at this point.

In Berlin, I've lived with a variety of people from all around the world, especially South America. I want to see the places they've been talking about for myself, so I plan on travelling south after staying in the US until late summer.

I will be travelling until spring 2017, but I'm happy to host as soon as I get back to Berlin.

I love concepts like Couchsurfing that have been made possible by the internet and bring people closer together. Hopefully, they can offer us a glimpse into the future where sharing ideas and objects is commonplace and people collaborate rather than competing against each other.

Although I'm an introvert, I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. I want to broaden my horizon and learn as much as possible from travelling or hosting people.

Last year, I more or less managed to live on leftover food for six months. I would collect slightly less-than-dew-fresh produce from grocery stores or small vendors and distribute most of it to people in need. Occasionally, I would dive into the dumpsters of a bakery to collect more bags of perfect bread and pastry than I could carry. If this sounds crazy or unappetizing to you, then you probably haven't seen the quality and quantity of food we waste every day.

Do you need a new profile picture? I enjoy taking photographs, although most of them are for myself only. I'm happy to show you some post processing techniques as well.

Of course, I'm gladly willing to help with chores around the house.
