Hello, I'm Yu-Hsuan from Taiwan, and currently an exchange student in north Sweden. I love travel and to meet and make new friends in the journey. It is so fascinating that there are so many different kind of cultures in the world. Although we knew a lot of different cultures in the world, seeing is believing! Therefore, I hope I can experience as much as possible.

I have been to several places since I started to travel when I was studying in university. I have been to several places in Asia and tropical region, so when I applied for the exchange student, I chose north Sweden to study because of its good education and its very northern location. This year, I utilize the time studying in Sweden to travel in Europe in order to explore different culture and to make new friends!

I have a broad interest to many things. I major in Chemistry, but my master thesis is about biophysics. However, I am studying sociology and also interested in political science because of the inspiration from the big "sunflower" student movement happened in 2014 in Taiwan.

I will move back to Taiwan in July (2017). I studied in Taipei, but my hometown is Yilan, which is a county in the northeastern of Taiwan. It is famous for landscape sightseeing and the nature, so if you are interested in it, Yilan is a good option to visit! (Don't just go to Taipei if you visit Taiwan, Yilan is just 1 hour bus away from capital!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel to more and more places, I noticed that most of the "culture" is a bit commercialized. Also, I used to stay in hostel while traveling, although I can meet new friends from all over the world, it is harder to meet a local. Therefore, I thought coach surfing is a good way to meet local people, experience different culture and try to help each other to explore more about this fantastic world!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am so interested in fantasy genre (movie or books), such as A Wizard of Earthsea, Harry Potter, The Lord of The Rings, Game of throne... etc.

My music style is musical, a cappella, and also pop songs. I love to sing, I have been singing in choir for 3 years. Oh, by the way, when I arrived Sweden, I started to love EDM so much! Awesome music!!

I am also interested in photography. I like to take photos while traveling! but this makes me walk slower sometimes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When walking from campus back to my home in Umeå (North Sweden, the place I'm studying now), I saw the aurora (northern light) shining astonishingly like a green curtain above my head!!! And I survived the northern winter with a crazy long night time (21 hours per day!), I felt so depressed in winter, but I overcome it!!

Maybe I can show you the way how we sing in chorus, if you want :P
And language exchange is really welcome, I think learning languages is a good way to know the local culture!
I have broad interest on science, so I am sure we can discuss XD.
I have some Taiwanese good green tea with me, so I can share some with you!

Taiwanese green tea, if you like tea, must try!
I can introduce my culture to you, and we can also have language exchange. I can teach you Mandarin.
If I can find ingredients, I can try to cook Chinese or Taiwanese food for you!
