ABOUT ME

My name is Florian and I am 32 years old. I grew up in a small city in the south of Germany. Very early I felt the urge to explore the world, so I left my hometown to go to High School in the United States. I really enjoyed this experience even if I had wished to live in a more urban area.
After I received my high school diploma I went back to Germany and finished school there. Then after a two year break during which I traveled and worked I started studying English and Italian (Literature and Linguistics). From 2006 until 2007 I moved to Palermo, Sicily in order to study there. I met a loooooot of nice people and saw a lot of pretty places. That's basically why I came back after I finished my studies. I was working in a cultural center in the heart of the palermitano centro-storico for 6 months in 2011.
After teaching for 1,5 years in Germany and half a year in Spain, my new job brought me to Costa Rica, where I am teaching in a private school.

I am a friendly, fun-loving and open minded person. I love going out with my friends, love surfing, love partying and having fun. However, I also enjoy the quiet minutes: reading a book, hanging out on my terrace with a cold beer, listening to music or relaxing at the beach.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS because I love getting to know new people from all around the world and so far I only had great experiences with Couch Surfing (even though I have only been hosting so far).

I participate in trying to be a good, honest and friendly host. If I have the time I will show you my favorite places or go out for a beer in the evening.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had two couchsurfers so far and both of them were great experiences. I will be glad to host many more and be hosted as well, because I believe that Couchsurfing actually helps in creating a better world.

Interests

I have been skateboarding and snowboarding basically since I was a kid (but then...I still am a kid). I love music, it is essential for me. I always wanted to learn surfing and last year I participated in a Surfcamp in France. Living in the Surf El Dorado of Central America, I try to go surfing as much as I can (so almost every weekend).
I am passionate about theater and acting. I acted in a theater for more than 3 years and also in a German independent movie.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite fiction book is definitely: "Das Parfüm" by Patrick Süskind. Admitted, it is mainstream but I don't care about that. I can read it again and again and it still grasps me like it did the first time. And then: Nietzsche - boy he was megalomaniac - but I love reading his stuff.

My favorite movie is probably "The scent of a woman" with Al Pacino, who is just outstanding (especially in this movie). Again: mainstream...and again: I don't care as it doesn`t lessen the film's quality. I love of course the generally acknowlegded "cool" directors like Wenders, Kubrick, ...

Mostly I listen to Hardcore/Punk stuff but also classical music and hip hop. I took drum lessons for more than 7 years and played in a symphony orchestra travelling Europe. I also played in various bands.
