My name is Floyd Vincent Wilcox and I am a 20 year old traveller that’s spent the best part of the past 2 years travelling throughout Europe. I have recently settled down in Edinburgh, Scotland for a little while however I’m hoping to take many trips to various places in Europe and further abroad. I’m very keen on music, film, photography and of course travel and love getting to now people from all walks of life.

I personally believe that couchsurfing is a very useful tool in experiencing the real culture of an area rather than a touristy holiday. I am hoping to utilise couchsurfing to meet new interesting people that wish to explore the true wonders of life and their environment. Most of all I am looking to have an amazing time and believe that couchsurfing can help provide that.

My interests almost solely include Film and Music (both watching/listening and creating). I am always writing, playing music, editing, filming and studying what I am most passionate about. While traveling Europe I hope to utilise this desire to create a series of short films. The purpose of this is to not only improve my skills as an amateur film maker but to also create a collection unique and individual stories that encapsulates my journey.

Where do I even begin. When in comes to my taste in music I love independent and alternative rock however I enjoy almost anything that isn't overproduced and without purpose. Due to my strong musical upbringing I also have a nostalgic love for older bands and genres such as 1960's/70's rock from bands such as Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones to various styles of jazz/pop/rock from throughout the ages. Some of my favorite movies include Pulp Fiction and Synecdoche, New York , while my list would be near infinite I chose these two examples because they encapsulate my love for substantial and unique films. However when it comes to books, I have to be honest and say I am not an avid reader and would prefer to spend my time reading film scripts.

The stand out most amazing thing I’ve ever done is the 10 months of straight solo backpacking throughout Europe in 2016/2017. I managed to travel to 32 countries throughout Europe and a few highlights would include, Christmas and New Year in London, Skiing in the Swiss Alps, Cliff Jumping in Croatia, Anzac Day in Gallipoli, Running of the Bulls in Spain, Camel trekking through the Sahara and so so so many more experiences that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
