Overview
About Me
Hello there!
My name is Floris, I grew up in Flanders, but settled (living and working as a sound engineer) in Brussels (and don't want to go back to Flanders anymore :) )
I love movies (and going to the cinema often), reading, playing music on my guitar, dancing , swimming, listening to (alternative/experimental/heavy/classical) music
love exploring everything related art related (but am interested in many things) , exchanging (or just listening to) stories with/of other Couchsurfers and sharing experiences would be something I'm looking for on CS.
I am rather a calm, not always talkative, but easygoing and assertive person.
I live in an apartment in Ixelles (Brussels), an can host 1 or 2 persons in the common room. It's a nice apartment, but it is's important to know that I can't offer more than some bedsheets and a small sleeping mat, so be aware that this is not a lot of comfort! (the two matresses and the rooftop view a couchsurfer mentioned in a reference on my profile is my previous place)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is for me a great way of discovering, sharing and learning, and for me a more interesting way of getting to know a place as a tourist. The possibility to make friends or to create a deeper connection with someone like minded. I also like to host, share my passion for Brussels with everyone who is curious to know
Interests
I am specialised as an post production sound engineer, which means that I basically treat the sound of audiovisual media, after image editing has been completed. At the moment I mainly work on television related jobs.
In my free time I am interested in reading about, listening to field recording, and sometimes record environmental sounds on a little recorder myself when I am walking through Brussels (or other places
Casual stuff I know some things about: I know a lot about the Belgian craft beer scene and I am very passionate in making filtercoffee. :p

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of thing, but lately mainly to: ambient, electronica, alternative pop, classical music, black and post metal.
I am a sucker for European movies of the 60's (french new wave and connected movements in Italy, Czech) , but I generally love art movies (and low budget indie productions) coming from all over the globe.
Some of the movies I personally resonated with are Taipei Story, Les Parapluis de Cherbourg, There Will Be Blood, Persona, Todo Sobre Mi Madre, Satantango.
I like filmmakers of the like of Chantal Akerman, Claire Denis, Naomi Kawasé, Marguerite Duras, Angela Schangelec, Bela Tarr, Paul Thomas Anderson, Godard, Bergman, Antonioni, David Lowery. It feels almost a bit obnoxious to mention Hitchcock and Kubrick :p .
I love reading classic novels/literature works, with some of my favorite authors Maggie Nelson, Thomas Mann, Virginia Woolf, Nietzsche.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Written music for a theater piece when I was 20.
- seen Max Richter perform his 8 hour long 'Sleep'-piece at night in the cathedral of Antwerp.
