About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become the fourth member of Aqua Teen Hunger Force

ABOUT ME

I learned about couchsurfing while traveling and think it is a fantastic opportunity to meet new peeps. I have hosted a few times and love to share my city with others. I am happy to give tours of the city, cook a nice dinner, hit the pubs or crack some wine for my guests! I can also be a place to crash as you explore the city on your own.

I am a nurse practitioner, which is a graduate degree nurse with privileges similar to a doctor. I was formerly a flight paramedic, a forensic toxicologist a professor and even a magician. To entertain myself I read, write, watch quite a few movies, and try to never miss Family Guy or Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode. I love wine, beer, cooking, biking, baseball, weird stuff and swimming. I love to travel but don't get to do as much as I like. In my spare time I am an editor for some medical journals, and do a lot of teaching of continuing education for medical professionals. I am also a juggling enthusiast, although my skills are thus far limited. I would love to learn fire-eating if anyone out there has that talent.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is shorter than we like to think. The many things that we keep to ourselves out of fear or embarrassment become lost in this shuffle. They are doomed to haunt us. Thus, I would like to think that I live life the best that I can....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm opening up my couch to others, but also hope to see some of the world on theirs. I read about couchsurfing while traveling, I think I was flying to Seattle, maybe San Fran. Either way, it seems like a very novel idea and an interesting way to meet peeps. I have hosted a few times and love to make people feel at home. My couch, fridge, food and wine are always shared.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a number of times thus far. It was a great deal of fun and I very much enjoyed the experience. I think I have a really comfortable place and a good knowledge of the Boston area so I have a lot to offer future couch surfers.

Interests

My interests vary. I do a lot of writing, reading, movie watching and I have an addiction to Aqua Teen Hunger force, Family Guy and Robot Chicken. I also do some juggling and am learning to do some fire-eating as well. I love to cook, and I especially like learning about the authentic cuisines of other cultures. I'm a wine enthusiast and by that I mean I love to drink wine. I have a decent knowledge of wine, but don't like to get caught up in the snobbery, I just drink what I like.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rx for Survival, Lovely Bones, I'm a Harry Potter addict....Just re-read 1984, also started to re-read Moby Dick. I am reading Mo Hayder at the advice of a fellow couch-surfer and friend. As for movies, it's a pot luck...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think one of my most memorable experiences is the birth of my daughter Emma. I delivered her, so I was the first one to see her enter the world. I also remember having delivered my first baby in the field. It was a major snow storm, I had been a medic for a number of years and while initially confident, soon realized how amazing the whole process is. It was a really joyful day. Another was bringing my daughter to the Esplanade to see the Boston Pops on the 4th of July for her 9th birthday. I got there at 4 am, so we were very close to the Hatch Shell. It was an amazing experience. I am a huge Sox fan, so the last two World Series were memorable for me, as were the 3 (almost 4 should be 6) Super Bowl wins. I used to do a lot of winter camping in the mountains of NH, and the serenity of it all was simply fantastic. The same can be said for beach camping in Bath, Maine. Nothing beats sleeping on the beach by campfire !

Teach, Learn, Share

I am open to meeting anyone, as I think everyone has something to share. I definitely have an affinity for those in the medical field, wine lovers, food lovers, and interesting peeps in general. I would also like to learn something from a professional chef, and any professional fire-eaters out there.
