About Me

CURRENT MISSION

becoming a great teacher

ABOUT ME

I used to have a 100% response rate, but Gmail started sending couch requests to a different inbox so I didn't see them. I've fixed that problem now.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others...

If you want to travel fast, travel alone. If you want to travel far, travel with friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to use CS when I travel and host whenever I can. I also tell people about the positive experiences I've had with CS and invite a select few of my friends to join the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosting, surfing, went to a Tally meet-up once. I've had all around positive experiences with CS!

I'm a bit disappointed with some of the new modifications to the website, but not with the people whom I host or stay with.

Interests

triathlon, bicycles, sustainability, efficiency, economics, good books, running, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, pretty pictures, TED, pop science

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving was pretty amazing. My heart has never beat so fast!

Teach, Learn, Share

In exchange for surfing with Alex in Kansas, I taught him how to change a flat tire on his bicycle. He said this knowledge would save him plenty of money because now he wouldn't have to pay the bike shop to do it. If you want to learn anything about bikes when you surf with me (or host me), I would love to teach you.

If you want to know about economics, I might be able to help there...but more on the individual level. I don't know what's going on with the LIBOR or unemployment.

I like sharing. I like it even more when the sharing is reciprocal. I guess that's one reason why I'm fond of Bread and Roses (www.breadandrosesfoodcoop.com) and CS in general.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you have tools, I can probably help you fix your bicycle. If I drive to your place, then there is a good chance that I'll have bike tools with me.

I can also teach you about economics (I'm much better at micro than macro).

I would also be happy to accompany you on a run if that's something you'd find enjoyable. I can probably run anywhere between 6:20 and 10:00 miles (maybe about 3:50 to 6:12 per km).
