About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the world and tell others how wonderful it is.
ABOUT ME
Philologist, English teacher and translator by profession. Born in the former Soviet Union, I lived for a long time in Russia and even longer in Ukraine.
PHILOSOPHY
It is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I’m surfing and looking for volunteer opportunities.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had found four hosts in Kenya and Uganda. All of them didn't fulfill their promises about conditions of staying at their places. Two of them proved to be volunteer searchers just to milk people.
As a host, I recieved two guys last year, from Poland and from Slovakia.
Interests
ºTraveling, meeting people, learning, discovering, reading fiction, translating fiction, writing stories about my adventures, listening to good music, fishing; watching animals, sunsets and clouds floating across the sky and... dreaming.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like music very much, especially romantic songs. That's why I like Spanish songs so much. I also like instrumental music, especially guitar and saxophone.
As for movies, my favorites are The Irony of Fate, Savior, 1 + 1 and some others. And there are three books I like most of hundreds I have read. They are All the King's Men by Robert Pen Warren, Scarlet Sails by Alexander Grin and Out of Africa by Karen Blixen.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sorry, there is not only one. Volunteering in Peruvian jungle, where I saw incredible Amazonian sunsets, pink dolphins and Southern Cross from the window of my hut and taught English to local people. Then, traveling from San Lorenzo, Ecuador, to Tumaco, Columbia, through the mangroves on motorboat and then from Tumaco to Buenaventura, Columbia, on a small cargo ship. And, of course, horseback riding to the Gocta Waterfall in Peru. Volunteering as a teacher at school in rural Uganda for five months. And, at last, staying in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya.
Teach, Learn, Share
As an English teacher and translator I could be useful in this field.
