Overview
About Me
Very young-at-heart queer non-binary solo-poly creative, having moved to live abroad for the very first time, seeking new adventures across Europe and further afield.
As a non-binary person my correct pronouns are 'they, their, them'. I avoid using gendered terms and references in my vocabulary.
I'm currently living in Amsterdam trying to make a life here and learn some Dutch.
I feel most comfortable within LGBTQ+, poly and kinky communities.
I have always been very relaxed amongst people of different ages. My youngest friend is 19 and my eldest friend is 68 :) Age is just a number, its all about how you feel in your heart. I am all about heart-to-heart connections.
I am now mostly plant-based in my diet. Vegan but I'm not a member of the Vegan Police. I see my veganism as a compassionate work-in-progress and I'm working on reducing my addiction to crisps and biscuits! I'm not nasty towards animal eaters, just don't lecture me about protein and calcium deficiency.
I am a Buddhist. I chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and follow the teachings of Lotus Sutra and Nichiren Daishonin. I have been practising with the lay organisation Sokka Gakkai for the past 14 years.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Still feeling quite new to the city of Amsterdam, so am hoping to meet some local like-minded (see 'About Me' e and 'My Interests') Amsterdammers here .
I plan to host once building works are complete in my home.
I travel to London regularly. Having lived there all my life, I am happy to meet travellers who wish to know about the less touristy side of London.
I would like to start couch surfing on my trips around Europe to explore new places and meet new people within the LGBTQ+/poly/kinky/feminist communities.
Particulalry keen on meeting QPOC (Queer People of Colour) living in Europe and beyond!
Interests
My interests fall within areas of creativity, sexuality, alternative relationships, intersectional feminism and queer identity.
I am non-monogamous. I identify as solo-poly and follow the manifesto of Relationship Anarchy.
Kink is part of my life and I especially love playing with rope - shibari and connective bondage. I go to clubs and workshops. I can usually be seen with a sketch pad as i love the challenge and stimulation of drawing performers and audiences on the kink scene.
I like sic fi especially social justice science fiction. I enjoy dressing up. Not been to cos play events, but would like to do so as I have fun dressing up for themed kink events, especially Steampunk.
I am currently exploring drag personae and hope to bring them to the stage sometime soon.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books I read prolifically many years ago and continue to read, but not so often. You will have to come look at my bookshelf to see my favourites as those are the only ones I keep. Current books are Taming the Tiger by Peter Levine as I've recently done some healing work using his techniques. Also Gender Outlaw by Kate Bornstein. Last fiction book i read was Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy. I've just started reading Scott Pilgrim graphic novels and enjoying it! If you know of any LGBTQ+ friendly graphic novels, please suggest!
I rarely watch TV and am so happy since i unplugged myself from that part of the media grid. I put Dutch TV/radio on in the background to help with my learning. I watch films occaisionally but would like to do that more often and read more books! For now, make of this small selection what you will:
Poetry by Keats, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Alien films, Hitchcock, anything by Ridley Scott, Amelie, The Piano, Industrial music, Techno, Hard House, Psychedelic rock, Cramps, Purcell, Jimi Hendrix, Fai Baba, Dennis Brown, Hawkwind, Iration Steppas, Black Uhuru, Bach, Purcell, Nitin Sawhney, Ella Fitzgerald, Blondie, Clash, Jam, Ska...
Daisaku Ikeda, Herman Hesse, Steven King, Samuel Delaney, Tideland, Arun Ghosh, Grace Jones, Didgeridoo trance music, dubstep, psychedelic and post-ind punk. There's so much more..... just ask!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just one?! I better make it good.
I resigned my job after an 18 year career as a teacher, left my family, packed up to go live abroad and release my inner artist-child.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd like to improve my very basic Dutch to be a confident speaker.
I'd like to learn etching and improve my clay sculpting skills especially portrait heads.
Do you want to model? I'm always happy to do life drawing and portraits to improve my skills. Also to join life drawing classes.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my cooking skills which is a fusion of European/Caribbean vegetarian and vegan.
I can share my knowledge and understanding of a range of subjects from artistic expression, education, ethical non-monogamy, Buddhism, communication techniques, healing from childhood trauma - all from a black, queer perspective of course :)
