About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To eat and drink through the world and educate others on what I've learned in the process in order to save it.

ABOUT ME

I have but 3 simple and expensive hobbies: traveling, eating, & drinking. I love to cook, write, and be outdoors as well, but those are further specifics of the first three.

I like people who like people and like living a good life. I work hard and play hard, consider myself a realist, thrive on sarcasm and non sequiturs, and enjoy the company of smart people who posses social skills. I like dogs and short walks on the beach. I am an old soul who likes single malt Scotch and Frank Sinatra. Personal and professional networking is my thing.

I love discussing philosophy, ethics, politics, and religion, but refuse to enter into a conversation about these topics with a person of whom I do not trust is able to walk away from the conversation civilly.

I like to laugh and make others laugh in clever ways. I try and be a renaissance man.

PHILOSOPHY

Be nice and help some who you are able. Respect other people's identities. Be politically incorrect in the privacy of those you trust. Read the news, don't watch it (it's easier to identify bias this way). Meet as many different kind of people as you can. Do things periodically for the novelty. Don't drink and drive. Don't take prescription drugs unless you need them to live. Don't ever pay for illicit drugs. If someone offers you something, try it if you have the willpower to do it only once, otherwise, drugs will never make your life anything but worse in the long run.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like meeting people on CouchSurfing and learning about their backgrounds and travels. Because I'm a college student, I am unable to host for now, but I'm looking forward to surfing couches in the near future (most hotels are culturally sterile and hygienically the opposite, so I only pay to crash in them when I must).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Some of my most memorable CS experiences were hosting people at our co-op in Providence, Watermyn House. Post-dinner discussions were so enlightening and thought-provoking there, especially when people from all corners of the world were crashing with us.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ziplining though the rainforest in Panama was personally one of the greatest things I've ever gotten to experience. Hiking in the Alps of France was also really cool. Snorkeling in the Florida keys was great too.

Professionally, cooking at the James Beard house and regularly working with several very talented chefs to put together menus and events are great personal accomplishments.

I am amazed and thankful everyday that I get to do what I love: drink and eat, for a living!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot more than the average person about wine and food and I love educating those that are eager to learn.

I like learning about interesting people, events in history, and anything clever or important politically.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Panama, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State
