ABOUT ME
I love the hospitality concept for a long time and started on Couchsurfing after Hospitality Club went downhill. You can also find me on BeWelcome. I'm doing a PhD in Computer Science currently and I love to travel. I only had great experiences with CS and Hospitality Club so far, some of them becoming the real highlight of my travel, because visiting other people can sometimes be more exciting than the travel itself!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I tell people about HC and CS and my great experiences (and obligatory funny stories); and I offer my couch, but that's a matter of course.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
With HC, I was couchsurfing in Paris and Jerusalem. In Paris one of my hosts took me to a nice jazz concert and we shared three bottles of wine (one for dinner, one for special times, and a 'daily' one, as he classified them). In Jerusalem, I was with my girlfriend and we were hosted by a young couple and talked with them all night (and got nice food!). I guess it is characteristic :-)
I also had some guests from Hamburg at home, they were visiting Comic Salon in Erlangen (if you're interested in comics, don't miss it!). I cooked for them and in return they showed me around the Salon :-)
Lately I went to Canberra in Australia and was couchsurfing until I found a room. During that period, through my awesome host, I met some really great people, I ended up spending almost all my free time in Canberra with! I had a blast for months, and that was made possible through CS!
Interests
Computer Science, but not "computers", travelling (obvious ;)), music, film. And I read a lot of books. I enjoy riding my bike a lot and bouldering. A sport that became a trend here in Germany a few years ago, but for me is just a natural extension of my love of alpine hiking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Probably my most intriguing travel experience was the guided visit to the city of Hebron, however also a very serious and sad one. Second comes New Orleans, where I was just driving around a rented bike, met these guys: http://nolasocialride.org/ and now I have awesome friends in New Orleans which I spent the rest of my vacation with!
