About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to be a bird

ABOUT ME

I love adventures. I was asked by a college professor if I was highly restricted as a child. I thought this over and realized infact I had. Now, my mission is to be a bird

I have been traveling for as long as i can remember (all thanks to my parents) and i don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

I love running and biking and swimming. I just yearn to feel alive. I love to sing and dance and write my own music that I play on any guitar and I've also picked up banjolele. I love to create and make, but most of all, I like to share.

PHILOSOPHY

Live everyday adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started surfing in 2009 and started hosting a bit in 2011. I've surfed a lot in the past and now is my chance to give back to the community :D I tell anyone i can about this great community!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first big experience was March of 2010 i decided to go on a 700 mile bike trip around Wisconsin during my spring break and couchsurfing was a BIG help! After that i decided i wasn't going back to college - not for a few years at least - i got too much traveling ahead of me ^.^

My next big experience was November of 2010 i bicycled all over New England (from New Hampshire, down to Storrs CT and up to Portland ME) for 3 weeks- just under 1000 miles- and it was FANTASTIC! I surfed every night and even got to go to a CS event in Boston and met surfers from all over the world - it was a pretty awesome night and an extremely epic adventure.

I couch surfed some more as i made my way down to Nashville TN in the fall of 2011 and since then i've gotten to host a few times.

Couchsurfing has made me realize how small the world can be. I met this awesome traveler named Michelle from Alaska through CS and clicked instantly, less than a year later i was having pizza in Milwaukee and found a traveling partner of Michelle's through another friend. Also found out a new classmate of mine was hanging out with a CS friend of mine who lives 6 hours away and she's our ONLY mutual friend.

Interests

Anything. I love learning about new things. I love running and the outdoors. I picked up mountain biking in 2013. I run (ran my first marathon in Texas December 2012, I ran my first 50K July 2013 Dances with Dirt in Baraboo WI, and I completed a 50 mile ultra marathon July 2014 in Duluth MN. I bike, bike, bike, hike, run, slack-line, long-board, swim, soccer, play guitar and sing, write songs and daydream.
I'm enjoying keeping busy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love any Hayao Miyazaki movie- but my favorite by far is Porco Rosso <3 Most of my other favorite movies were books first and i think i would rather list them under books- like Pride and Prejudice- for instance. Donnie Darko is another great movie, Dancer in the Dark made me want to dance and sing along- and i ended up crying for the whole last hour of the movie with my sister, Little Miss Sunshine is hilarious and i also LOVE the soundtrack, Ghost World and it's soundtrack, James in the Giant Peach (actually, i've never read this book), Breakfast Club- i so relate to the basket case ( i kind of look like her too) V for Vendetta - OOOOOoooh the symbolism "remember remember the 5th of November", Big Fish is just mind bendingly good, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is just adorable "lick, lick, lick" The Princess Bride- its a classic- you can't deny the classics, Six String Samurai - one of the hidden treasures of cheezy good films, The Goonies- who can't love them? and finally- one thats not really a movie, but an amazing online musical- Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - "What a crazy random happenstance" "like pie"

music makes the world turn

Pride and Prejudice, Nanny Diaries, Jane Eyre, Absolutely Maybe, The Last of Her Kind, Street Car Named Desire, Catcher in the Rye, The Great Gatsby,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I just completed my 6th solo bicycle tour (June-September 2016) I spent 3 months riding from Wisconsin, through Canada and down the coat to California - days after graduating college. EPIC!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you only of what i know.
I want to learn everything i can, taking it easy, enjoying life and living it to the fullest.
I don't know about you but I share stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am extremely handy and helpful. I'm crafty and clean. I'm also very musically inclined and would love to play a few songs on my guitar or banjolele. Just ask and I would love to help :)
