About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Save the world? Meet good people? Make my mommy smile? Why not?
ABOUT ME
I live in Delaware and I actually like it here. I was born and raised in Long Island, New York in a fairly sheltered polished suburb (yes, I did have a mom, dad, dog and white picket fence!). I came here for college and ended up getting a job here.
Right now I am just adapting to the idea of technically being and adult with large amounts of responsibility while still being the kid I really am at heart.
I love climbing trees or wherever else is available. I'm an avid hometown explorer when I have the time. I generaly like to find old places/infrastructure.
When I dont have the time, I am usually doing graduate student things and can sometimes get caught up in being a bit of a workaholic. I am currently working towards a masters degree in public administration and doing research in housing policy in DE.
I am always open to questions. Just ask!
PHILOSOPHY
I have a few different philosophies that sometimes conflict. Im trying to work them all out. I try my best to not say offensive things, but I do not like the PC movement. I enjoy the works of Ayn Rand as much as existentialist writing (the life philosophy overlap of which seems more obvious then there differing political tendencies).
Mostly I am living to find a spot in the world which I am both good at and enjoy. I think I have found it in the non-profit world, but well see. I also live to learn about the world and the people in it. I love learning about other people's lives, culture, religion (or lack thereof) esetera. I love to listen to people's stories and even tell a few of my own. I thinking listening and sharing is the best way to learn about anything.
I also love a good adventure!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am brand spanking new to CS2 and I am excited to meet some interesting people and see some interesting places. I got a couch and would like to share it with some good interesting people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm pretty new to couch surfing, but i have couch surfed in Florida for a week and around Delaware for a few days due to acute homelessness (The day after I graduated from college. Talking about the real world smacking you in the bum!) Both these experiences were very positive. When I travel, I usually avoid hotels, so it is usually a friend's/family member's couch, or a tent.
Interests
Likes: Cooking/eating interesting foods (I'm especially fond of street foods and vegan cooking), politics, Life stories, philosophy, exploring (especially foresty/mountany areas and urban areas), biking, music (both listening and attempting to create), climbing, DIY culture, quality beer, world religions, Judaism, camping, fishing, poeple, joy, other things..
Ask me anything you want to know. I try my best to be open and I am working on communicating things about myself a little more.

Music, Movies, and Books
Im pretty open when it comes to the first two.
some fave movies: Monty Python and the quest for the Holy grail, Shortbus, EL TOPO, Spaceballs, Network, Duck Season, Brazil, Waking Life, Shaun of the Dead, Easy Rider
Some fave books: The Sun Also Rises, Thief of Always, House of Leaves, Bright Lights Big City, On the Road, Howl and other poems, Slaughterhouse 5, perks of being a wallflower, The Fountainhead
In both movies and books I generally like things that have something to say in an interesting way. I do also enjoy some strait-up silliness.
When it comes to music, I enjoy a lot of it. I can rock out to some afrobop or Zydaco, American Football or Xiu Xiu. I do especially enjoy some good punk rock and ska. Ska is the music of my soul.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Wandering to the "bad side" of Curacao. Talking to the locals, meeting the local fisherman and helping him catch fish off the coast of S. America with nothing but gloves, a spool of chord and hooks. Caught a flying fish! After talking to him for hours going back to the town and eating lunch out of a collective pot of some sort of tuna fish soup with other towns people.
