About Me
*** traveling at the moment, not in Berlin***
Hi, I'm Fränzi.
I'm a former Brand Manager who quit her job in November last year to go traveling. First stop should have been Australia in March 2020, but I had to cancel my plans due to the Corona pandemic. Since I wasn't ready to give up my dream of traveling, I decided not to start looking for another job, but travel through Europe instead. After being stranded at my parents' for a while, I made it to the Netherlands and have been staying in Noordwijk since July. After exploring the area, visiting the cities nearby, spending hours and hours at the beach and feasting on Dutch specialities like apple tarts, bitterballen, or kaassoufflés, it's time to say "dui" and move on.
I enjoy company and am a very sociable person, but also like spending time by myself every now and then. I'm definitely a travel person (hence the sabbatical)! When I used to work as a Brand Manager, but also back in the days when I was a student, I would try to go somewhere as much as possible. You would find me in Athens in March, Mallorca in April, Noordwijk and Cologne in June, Vienna in July, Israel in October and Munic and Hamburg in December.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After passing my a levels in 2008, I spent a year as a nanny in the USA. Since I had a bit of time off during that year, I decided to travel with the help of Couchsurfing: Staying with a local was a great way for me to get to know a city plus meet interesting people. It's such a difference coming home to an actual person than just an empty hotel room, especially if you're traveling solo. I always enjoyed sharing my experience and having a chat with my hosts.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had my first experience in Washington D.C. with a friend of mine in 2009. We went to the city for the 4th of July, and our hosts made it a great first experience. Later that year, I stayed with hosts in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and a couple of years later, in Amsterdam.
Interests
During Corona, I started baking and spoiled my parents with some Sunday treats every week. Also discovered a secret love for hand lettering and makramee. I never thought I'd say this, but I also started working out on a regular basis, and really enjoy starting my day with a workout routine. You can alsso find me reading crime novels at the beach, riding a bike somewhere, playing the piano (if there is one), or hopping from cafés to restaurants to bars since I love going out for cake and dinner (I also cook for myself and others from time to time, if there's a recipe I can follow).
