Music, Movies, and Books
some books i get enthusiastic about are david foster wallace's novels and short story collections, rolf dieter brinkmann's "Westwaerts" collection, and thomas bernhard's "Holzfaellen".
currently, i listen to a lot of klaus nomi, fever ray, jun togawa, janelle monaé and hauschka. and to stuff like this: http://youtu.be/3QtLb-e9aew
movie-wise, i'm really a sucker for highly aestheticized films like "drive" (not sure what to do with "only good forgives", though - was it really lame or am i simply missing out on something?) and "laurence anyways". i also like films by edward yang.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
i'm always suspicious of myself: were the things which - now that they only consist in dreamlike pictorial memories - appear to have been amazing experiences really amazing when they happened? was i really awestruck, exceptionally happy and thoroughly overwhelmed, or did things (the moment they happened) feel much more average to me than i would allow myself to admit?
