About Me

UPDATE > Currently in Aix-en-Provence, France (Erasmus)

Ciao! I was born and raised in Florence, Italy and I still live and study there; indeed, I am a student at the faculty of Languages, Literatures and intercultural studies. I don't like to/ know how to define myself.. but I have quite a few friends so I guess my company can be enjoyable.

In my spare time, I like taking long walks in parks or in the city centre, where I can stop for a coffee and a good book. I also like debating and attending cultural events. Sometimes I do conversation exchanges with foreigners and I love showing them around. I love listening to live music, dancing and singing out loud. I also have a thing for abadoned places - can't explain why, but their creepy fascination intrigues me.

The thing I love the most though is travelling. I started when I was 6 months old, and never stopped since then. My parents have taken me to some incredible places - Indonesia, Iceland, US, all around Europe - and I'll never be thankful enough for that. The thing is, we always took great pleasure in getting to know people form all over the world, and that's why we started travelling through home exchange after many years of travelling by camper.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Last year, I decided to try travelling on my own and left for a month in Spain. At first I was afraid I would get lonely and sad. What I didn't know, is that you are never alone when you travel. People are all around, you just have to let them into your life. Even though giving trust might be a challenge, it can also be so rewarding. That is why I find the idea behind couchsurfing so interesting and full of potential. By learning about other people, not only you get more knowledge of the world, but you also discover a lot about yourself - at least, that's what I have experienced. Travelling is seeing, meeting, knowing, and most of all sharing. And I'd love to share my life with other human beings!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love old school music, from rock to funky to disco to pop, and any other genre that makes people move like swing. As a matter of fact, I love dancing and I've just started taking Lindy Hop classes (best thing ever). I also listen to more smooth music, whenever I'm in the mood for it and I've recently fallen in love with Electronic and Techno music (especially ethnic and goa). My favourite musician is an italian songwriter called Fabrizio de André - his songs are pure poetry.

I like movies and tv series - Captain Fantastic, Forrest Gump, Moulin Rouge, Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Trainspotting, Kill Bill & many many Others
BUT my all-time favourites are Disney classics and the Harry Potter saga, both movies and books. They remind me of my childhood and I always feel happy and peaceful when I watch them - for the hundredth time.

As for books, I really can't pick a favorite but I remember being particularly moved by "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. I like reading about real life stories that bring about important issues, but, at the same time, I like to escape from reality through fiction. And, of course, I love italian poetry and literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I cooked pasta in a cave and slept there afterwards.
