About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seeing as much of the world and getting to know as many different people and cultures as possible!

ABOUT ME

I am an undergraduate student, studying English, German and Computer Science at the University of Münster in Germany. I'm interested in everything that involves being creative - from writing, drawing and doing handicrafts to refurbishing old funiture. Books and languages have always been an integral part of my life, too, so I read a lot and I want to learn to speak as many languages and as good as possible because I believe that understanding a language is the key to understanding a culture.

Travelling is, of course, a great means to practice those languages, which is one reason why I love it so much. It's also amazing to experience different ways of living and thinking, and to question your own opinions from time to time, after making such experiences. Sometimes that makes you find out what matters most.

As a person, I think I am quite patient, a good listener and curious to get to know people and their stories. I care about people's needs and try to help whenever I can. Protecting nature and animals are two things about which I feel very strongly. That's why I am a vegeterian and try to live a life that is environmentally reponsible. In general, I'm rather calm and take my time to consider before I speak up. But this does, of course, not mean that I don't like to party, am not in for a good joke or like to meet new people and make friends. That, however, works best in real life, so if you want to know more, you've got to meet me yourself. ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first time couchsurfing was only in March 2012 in Edinburgh and I'm still new to the whole couchsurfing experience. But it has been great so far and I'm looking forward to do it more often in the future. Getting to know amazing and inspiring new places and people at the same time, but from a very different point of view than the average tourist, is amazing! I feel like this is the only way to really get to know a place.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the books of Alexandre Dumas, Gaston Leroux, Charlotte and Emily Bronte, Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. But I don't just read that "old stuff", of contemporary books I also really enjoyed reading Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Markus Zusak and Dan Brown.

Concerning music... I listen to lots of different stuff, depending on mood, weather, day of the week, ... But these are always a good way to go:
Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, Great Elk, Martin and James, OneRepublic, The Script

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me, the most amazing moments of my life are actually moments of simplicity - like views that simply take your breath away with their beauty: Standing on a cliff atop the coast, looking towards the endless ocean and breathing in the salty air while the wind brushes through your hair and makes you feel like you can fly - that's pure freedom.
Another great - I might even say, perfect - moment was the first time I saw my newborn baby-cousin. He wouldn't stop staring at me for ten minutes straight, scrutinising me with his critical, unblinking eyes until he finally curled one corner of his mouth into something like a smile and I felt like I had passed his test.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Czech Republic, England, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Scotland, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam
