Resumen
Sobre mí
A hundred percent Italian on paper, my true self is a mix of all my travels. Whether backpacking through Cambodia, volunteering at a film festival in Lapland, discovering the best spots for a beer in Prague or walking my shoes off along the Santiago Route, travelling is definitely my element.
Coming from a tiny village in the country, I grown up feeling like a fish out of water and impatient to find out where I belonged. Inspired by the stories of a friend – the thought of adventure is often contagious, isn't it? – I bought the first backpack and the first pair of hiking shoes and went solo travelling in China. It was the beginning of something destined to last.
The thrill, the discovery, the sociality; but also the fatigue, the unexpected, the solitude. Trip after trip, I started wondering if travelling in two could spice things up and double the fun. No sooner said than done, my half-Brit half-Spanish boyfriend Guille came into the picture.
Guille and I are different but complementary. I'm a practical mind that knows when to set free the hidden silliness and turn into a merrymaker. Guille is more of a dreamy, introvert type. However, his incredible empathy and constant support, together with his hunger for adventure and adrenaline, make him the best travel buddy anyone could have.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
We like to explore a place at a relaxed pace, immersing ourselves in all the stories, the shades and the aromas. At the same time, we try to keep away from the tourist path, preferring rather to get lost in the unbeaten track. Every destination needs a bit of effort to unravel its hidden gems, and searching for them is precisely the fun part.
Our experience taught us that the best way to pursue this slow and non-touristy way of travelling is with the help of locals. Locals are the best guides. They know everything: the freshest market, the coolest jazz club, the cheapest coffe in town. They're an unlimited source of unbeatable tips and recommendations.
We presume that if you make yourself available to accepting guests, you should definitely be someone cool, sociable and open-minded. We get always excited at the opportunity of getting in touch with someone like that. You never know, it could be the beginning of a life-long friendship.
Intereses
We are huge foodies. To us, food is a trascendental epiphany of the senses, a divine nectar of the spirit, a sacred expression of conviviality. We worship good food, and couldn't live without it.
We like to live in the city every now and then, but nature regularly calls us back. Nothing beats the peacefulness of wide spaces, green landscapes, seashores and mountain views. It reminds us that we should reconnect and feel part of this planet earth, instead of constantly isolating ourselves in a tiny apartment in a skyscraper.
Everything creative catches our eyes. Art galleries, photography exhibitions, music venues...you name it. Art keeps our brains going, enriches our souls and provides us a creative boost anytime we need.
We love watching movies. More than that, we love watching movies in the theatre. We get excited like kids and cannot wait to discuss the film together right after. Better if over a coffee. Or a meal.
Música, películas y libros
If we're really forced to choose...here's the list.
My favourite book: The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
Guille's favourite book: The Lord of the Rings.
My favourite movie: Revolutionary Road.
Guille's favourite movie: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Our favourite tv series: Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Archer, House of Cards, Narcos, Vikings and Hannibal. Just to mention a few. We are series addicted!
My favourite music: I listen to LOTS of different genres, but RHCP were my first love. You never really forget your first love.
Guille's favourite music: Classic rock, latin music, Tobu and Michael Jackson.
Algo increíble que he hecho
Recently we've obtained the Open Water and Advanced Diving License in Koh Tao, Thailand. Unpredictably, the weather conditions were rough. We had our first dive on a stormy day, trying to keep the nerves calm despite the choppy sea and the limited visibility under water. The second time, all the dives were cancelled. Fortunately, we were in the nicest and funniest diving team ever. Together with our buddies, we laughed at our misfortune and kept up the spirits. We went through cuts, scratches, bruises, blocked ears and a very bad mask squeeze. The rain didn't abandon us until the very last dive. Emerging together from the water, feeling the warmth of the first sunshine in days, was something magical that I'll never forget.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
We can both cook pretty well. As the daughter of a chef, I basically spent all my life trying to unveil my father's secrets. As for Guille, he worked in an Italian restaurant as a Larder and Pizza chef. Should I say something more? At the end, cooking is all about sharing. We enjoy cooking for or with other people, and we'd love sharing with you the authentic paella recipe or the perfect way to bake lasagna.
We can also speak a bunch of languages and have worked in the past as language tutors, so if you have any interest in learning Italian, Spanish or Mandarin, let us know!
Guille loves to exercise and keep himself fit, and has a fair bit of experience in personal training. He's also fond of basketball, soccer and martial arts. If you're looking for a gym or team buddy, he's the perfect candidate.
We don't really expect anything specific from our host. Travelling has taught us that there's always something cool to learn from others.
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
Should you decide to host us, you definitely won't be disappointed with what we can bring to the table, literally! Aside from sharing with you the fair few intriguing and/or hilarious travel stories we have acquired, we can cook fantastic meals and provide a bit of help around the house while you're in work. We look forward to meeting you, creating a connection and adding value to both our and your stay.
