About Me

30 years old, from Italy. I am currently a PhD student based in Milan. My research interests are Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Law and Gender Studies. I am also committed to feminist and LGBT+ activism.
I was born in Chieti, a small town in Abruzzo, and I still spend part of the year there with my family. I graduated in Law at the University of Bologna, where I lived for 6 years in a flat shared with three close friends. Then I moved to Brussels for a three-months internship for a no-profit organisation, and later I spent few months in Jyväskylä, Finland, where my partner was working. I also did an Erasmus in Leuven, Belgium, and I lived for one month in York as a visiting researcher.
I love traveling (of course), meeting new people, discovering new cultures, visiting museums and tasting different foods (I am a very bad cook, despite being Italian, but I love eating!).
I am an independent, super curious, talkative and open-minded person. I like sharing and learning. Even if I mostly do philosophy, my real passion is literature. I am very tidy and clean - probably a bit too much, I really cannot stand in dirty and nasty places (my bad!). Except for this, I am a low maintenance guest, always willing to hang out and have a nice conversation.
Unfortunately I have no extra-space for guests within my shared flat in Milano, but if you step by, feel free to contact me: I would be happy to hang out! I can also give you some advices if you are visiting Bologna or any place in Abruzzo. I am looking forward to having my own space and to offer my hospitality as well!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me Couchsurfing is an amazing way to meet new interesting people and to live authentic experiences when visiting a new city. Of course it is also the cheapest way to travel, which is a super pros for me, since my job as a researcher is very precarious and underpaid. Being always on a budget, couchserfing is such a valuable resource for me. Every time I travel, I jump out of my comfort zone and I feel like I am improving as a human being.

Interests

I have mainly cultural interests: I love art, museums, cinema, movies, theatre, TV series, philosophy and most of all I love reading.
I have started reading novels when I was 6 years old, and I never stopped. What I like more are classical authors from XIV and early XX century - such as Dostoevskij, Dumas, Tolkien, Verga, Balzac, Marquez, Allende, Woolf, Sartre, De Beauvoir, Camus, Murakami, Singer, Kafka; but I am trying to improve my knowledge of contemporary literature too, and especially female and black authors. I love Sylvia Plath.
I define myself as a feminist. I wrote my master thesis on the reproductive rights of women and new technologies of reproduction, and I am doing my PhD research in the field of legal recognition of LGBT and polyamorous families.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like mainly books written by classical authors from XIV and early XX century. Some of my favourite novels are: Crime and Punishment and The Karamazo'v brothers by Dostoevskij; The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers by Dumas; I promessi sposi by Manzoni; The trial, Kafka; One hundred years of solitude and The love in the time of Cholera by Marquez; The house of the spirits by Allende; Norwegian Wood by Murakami; Un Uomo by Oriana Fallaci... But they're just some examples!
I’m very into art - I love going to museums - especially modern art (from the XIV century to nowadays) and my favourite painters are Van Gogh, Magritte, Renoir, Munch, Caravaggio, Mirò and Dalì.
I also like to take pictures, but I am still learning how to use a reflex camera as a professional.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2022 I started to travel alone! I never thought I would have been brave enough, but I finally made it! I mostly travelled for conferences, but I always took some time for me, to visit the places: I went to Sicily, Salzburg, Princeton, NYC, Bucharest, San Francisco and LA. Always planning my next stop…✈️

Teach, Learn, Share

I suppose I don't have so much to teach - maybe the Italian language and something about literature, philosophy, art and feminism. I can help you planning your trip in Italy, and since I usually organize all my trips by myself, I would be happy to share any useful information. The last place I visited was Jordan.
Everything I know, I will be happy to share it: happiness is real only when shared. Plus, I have so many things to learn!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a clean, polite, kind and open-minded person. I can spend time talking about literature, art, poetry, culture, but also more intimate conversations. I love listening to other people's stories. I am super curious - always ready to open my mind and to learn something new about life and people. I think I am growing up and looking for myself travelling, so I can share my friendship, my curiosity and my enthusiasm for the world... And maybe also some good Italian recipes (if you cook!)
