About Me
⬆️ References matter more than the bio ⬆️
I was born in Bologna, the Italian city known for lasagne, tortellini, ragù and communists. When I was 22, I fell in love with Brussels and moved there, a multilayered maze of wannabe eurocrats, artists and ravers.
INTERESTS
I'm a bit addicted to cultural consumption, in cinemas, theatres, museums, exhibitions, concerts, djsets or just reading in the sun. I also got a Master's in cultural studies, that is basically like trying to stop smoking by graduating in medicine. Didn't really work. Evenings and weekends are my favourite time, and I like to spend them with friends, drinking tea or beer, exploring new places and new people or hiking in nature.
MUSIC
My path in music is quite weird: I started with cello, then I switched to composing, then I graduated in orchestral conducting, then I switched again to choir singing and now I'm the pianist of a Croatian turbo folk band. No idea what's coming next, but I'm learning how to make music with Ableton.
SOME VIEWS
Two major lines of research have changed my social vision in recent years: the degrowth movement and Piketty's studies on inequalities. I define myself as anti-capitalist and am constantly seeking dialogue on the philosophical, sociological and economic issues of our time.
MISCELLANEA
I am a polyglot and an expat, dus zodra ik een zin begin ich bin mir nie sicher que ça va se terminer nella stessa lingua. Currently learning Chinese. An object that's always with me? My red beat up bike. My best holidays? Wildcamping in Northern Europe. What I would like to do more often? Saunas.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
CS is for me an example of degrowth practice, as well as a redistributive project in line with my political beliefs. I am also interested in getting to know other cultures, while being aware of my privileges.
I am hosting people who don't have the means to pay for a night in Brussels and / or who want to know the city through a local and / or who want to make new friends.
If you are not in any of the three categories, you should look for something else. CS is not a dating app nor a hostel. On the other hand, some surfers became friends and they hosted me back!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My apartment is my cozy nest, where I can take refuge from the outer world together with my plants. Mi casa es tu casa with whomever is respectful and empathetic.
I usually involve my hosts in my daily life, that means cooking vegetarian and eating together during the day, and going out with my friends at night.
I'm also keen on exploring Brussels with my guests. I say "exploring" because this city keeps still surprising me with cute cafés, clubs, exhibitions, hidden gardens and art nouveau houses.
