About Me
ABOUT ME
Grew up in Lancashire, in the North West of England though I have dual British/Italian citizenship. My Italian is ropey, but i get by well enough. I spent a lot of my youth in Africa which (I hope) has left me open to people and cultures other than my own.
I tend to get along with everyone and am generally friendly and easy going (citation needed).
PHILOSOPHY
Brought up a Catholic (with Irish and Italian parents there was really no other option) but now a convinced Atheist, though I don't have any problem with people of faith.
I am, broadly speaking, left-wing, though I don't subscribe to any particular ideology (and certainly not any particular political party). Nothing frustrates me more than people who close themselves off completely from ideas that are different from their own.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed in Paris and Amsterdam and have hosted couchsurfers in the UK. This has mostly been done through the accounts of friends which explains the paucity of references (I'm working on it though).
Interests
I'm interested in politics, music, history, literature (i generally have at least one novel on the go) and sport (football and tennis). Like most people, I also enjoy a good American TV box-set.
Other than that, i enjoy playing guitar (badly), the odd game of tennis/football, walking in the countryside and a good session in the pub.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - 'rock', 'punk', 'post-punk', 'indie', 'hip-hop', 'miscellaneous'. Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Crass, Clash, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, etc.
Books - I'll read anything if it recommended to me by someone who's opinion I trust. For example, I am currently reading Irvine WElsh's 'Filth' and have just finished reading Robert Tressell's 'Ragged Trousered Philanthropists'
Movies - i tend to enjoy slow moving films with a violent edge eg, There will be blood, no country for old men, the assasination of jessie james etc.
TV - Drama-wise nothing touches 'the wire' (nice try 'Breaking Bad'). Comedy-wise: 'I'm Alan Partridge', 'The Office', 'Arrested Development', 'Extras'.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently walked with lions in Zimbabwe. Definitely worth doing if you ever get the chance!
