About Me
Hi there!
My name is Francesco, and I am a Phd. Student in Statistics, living in Umbria, Italy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I firmly believe that the best way to truly get to know a place is to meet the people who live there. Places are made by the people. In general, I am a very curious guy, I like to get in touch with different cultures, and my dream is to have a friend in every country of the world. I like to travel (even though I have traveled far less than I wanted to), and I like to welcome travelers in my home. Every time I hear the tales of a traveler I feel enriched, it is like living a piece of his journey.
Interests
I am quite nerdy, you have been warned! I have a true passion for board games (Eurogames in particular), and I am always willing to play with my guests. I like also video games (fighting, RPGs, ...), comics, I watch a lot of TV series, I like fantasy literature, and I belong to many (perhaps too many) fandoms. I am passionate cook, and I will be glad to let you taste the Italian cuisine. As a statistician, I am keen on data science and data visualization. I am not the cold-super-science kind of guy, I also like philosophy, literature and art (classic and modern), I love to visit museums and learn about the history of places and people every time I visit a new city. I like to talk about everything, also politics if you want.

Music, Movies, and Books
Concerning music, I mainly listen to indie pop on the alternative rock scene, but in terms of music I am omnivorous. Concerning movies, I like fantasy and science fiction, if there are wizards, dragons, starships, superheroes or magic powers, then I'll probably like the movie. As film director I love Wes Anderson. Concerning books, I have read all of J. R. R. Tolkien's works. I fell in love with The Silmarillion, and I have read it so many times! The only alive author that made my Tolkienian heart beat was G. R. R. Martin, and now I am (like many others) eagerly waiting for The Winds of Winter!!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, I don't have a straight answer to this question. In the end I am quite an ordinary guy, without any unique skill or extraordinariness. Of course, I have had amazing experiences, known amazing people and seen amazing places, but I cannot pick just one to fill in this field. Let's say that I hope the most amazing things are yet to be done!!
Teach, Learn, Share
If you want, I can teach you something about Italian language, culture and cuisine, along with the rules of many board games. Of course, I can also technically teach statistics and data analysis with R (in the case you are intereseted in it). I am always willing to learn as much as possible, and I am really open for everything!
