About Me

CURRENT MISSION

avoiding the iron rice bowl and attempting to 'find myself'

ABOUT ME

If not teaching English to China's (and the world's) next leaders, we spend most of our time reading books and watching DVDs. Occasionally, we'll go out for some cheap beers and dancing dancing.

We're both really nice people! I feel like we both have some pretty good stories to tell (i.e. Alex's deer slaying Poodle). I'm not sure what else I can say, just ask I guess.

PHILOSOPHY

not planning for the future and doing things hastily and hoping things work out in the end

Interests

Learning Chinese, dancing, dance parties, listening to our friends' music, crossword puzzles, dogs, cats, walking, playing Scrabble, being competitive over Scrabble, vacations from vacations

Music, Movies, and Books

Wild Animal Kingdom Records, Underwater Peoples, Prince. This is an awkward question.

The Wire, Star Wars, Akira Kurosawa movies, Bladerunner, Twin Peaks, Mad Men. All that stuff. We (Liz Alex and I) have started a house series -that is, we watch the show together- The Sopranos.

Lately we've been buying whatever books we can on the streets of Beijing. I have to say that we're not big fans of self help books, CEO biographies or corporate literature. We do what we can.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

living with a Tibetan household in the middle of nowhere in Qinghai for a week- no formal plumbing, no separate beds/rooms, mountain climbing, horse riding and a lot of goats and yaks.

Alex was a forest fire fighter! He also saved his mom's poodle from being killed by a raccoon.
