About Me

ABOUT ME

Although new to CS, I travel constantly, I am a homeless home and pet sitter. So I meet new people who soon are my good friends. I have sat in the UK, Nederland and Australia. 2015 will be my North and Central America year.
I am a Special Needs Teacher, (retired), mum of three grown up kids who all have two of their own children.
I must add that I am a non-smoker, lactose, gluten and caffeine intolerant. I tend to eat raw foods and very little meat. I am open minded (to a point), love company but also enjoy my own company, if there are pets and children I will certainly spend time with them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love connecting with people, all ages and from all walks of life. I love learning, love history, cultural differences to my own, architecture, art, parks and gardens, historic buildings being homes or churches, geography (I think I was a cartographer in another life as well as a traveller), I love languages, I am a full time home and pet sitter, for 3 years now and what keeps me doing it is the people, places and the pets I get to meet.
Couchsurfing allows me to stay short stays in between my sits, along the way from one to the next.

Interests

Most of my day is spent with the dogs if I am sitting them, taking them for walks and just relaxing with them as I catch up with my friends and family via emails, Skype and texts. When I am sitting in new places I love to get to know the area, if there are caves I would love to take a tour through them. But I would like to stay dry so no crawling or diving. I love walking, riding a bike if it is flat terrain, reading, art, botanic gardens, animal parks, history, geography, very keen cartographer, joining activities and events with Meet Up. Meeting and making new friends all over this beautiful world. I am also a pretty good cook, very clean and organised.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a broad love of music, if it gets me moving then I like it. I get somewhat nostalgic when I hear music from the late 50's and 60's.
Movies, well my interest tends to lean to the thriller, murder movies, although I don't like mind game movies at all. I am not a chick flick fan but do like true to live movies like Pay it Forward on which I base my life and lifestyle on. I am homeless and I sit for free, all my travel is funded by myself, in fact I am spending my kids' inheritance!
Books, read up to 3 at a time, well I listen to one in my car, the other as I wait to fall asleep and the third is a soft or hard cover book, the genre is mystery. I like Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels at the moment, James Patterson's Alex Cross is also high up on the list. Anything with forensics too, I have donated my body (when I am dead of course) to the Forensic Body Farm in Australia. You get cremated for free, no wasting anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Besides giving birth to the most amazing daughter I would have to say what I am doing now. My lifestyle is inspiring more people like myself to travel in a way where they receive free accommodation, as well as to de-clutter their lives of stuff.
I have already given all my stuff away, no home so no need or stuff. No need for a Will as I have already given to who wants it. My money is in my daughter's Mortgage off set account and I haven't a clue how much I have got. Her young family have needed money so I am glad I had it there for them. If anything does happen to me when I am travelling she knows that she can give my car to whom ever may need it and the same for my personal effects.

Teach, Learn, Share

I may have been born to teach, to learn and to impart my knowledge. It is what I do on a daily basis. I have a mind like a steel trap, ask my kids and grandkids (6).
I also have an ability to 'diagnose' children and adults on the Autism Spectrum, I don't even have to see or meet them. I have a few questions when a parent is feeling anxious about their child's behaviour, their inability to wear certain clothes and shoes and their eating habits.
