ABOUT ME

3/23/2015: I'm updating this from what I had from earlier in University. I'm currently a senior (4th year undergraduate student). I took a year off between high school and uni to mix up my life with some travel, work, and exploration. I'm pretty open-minded, and while I previously may have been considered introverted, I hardly fit that profile now; I spent my latter years in high school and a year off to become more extroverted since I saw lots of merits to it (like meeting tons of crazy awesome people which CS is perfect for). I usually say things as they are, and I like to stop conflicts before they develop; if I have a problem or misunderstanding with someone, I usually deal with it immediately, and I appreciate it when people do the same.

In terms of conversation, I really like to laugh, and talk about mundane things in novel ways (just not vice versa!), and learn about things I know nothing about. Depending on the mood, I can keep it academic/intellectual or much more light-hearted, though of course the company involved is an important factor in this :).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm done with surfing for a long while (no time), but I would LOVE to show people around Harvard and see the stuff no tourists get to see. I would also host people in a heartbeat, but unfortunately, not all my roommates are comfortable with this, so I have to defer to this.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Fantastic thus far as a surfer! I've met a bunch of crazy, cool, smart people and I can't wait to meet more of them now that I've settled down.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Inception, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Casablanca, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Billy Madison, anything well-done (and a number that aren't). My tastes are pretty eclectic.

Music: Older and some current Pop/Rock bands primarily, but I listen to smatterings of genres across the board. I like hearing the pop of other countries (e.g. die Aertze, Deutschland).

Books: History, psychology, news, policy analysis. During my year off, I dedicated myself to becoming a bit more well-read, and that has pushed me primarily in the direction of Western classics. I figure they must have some merit if they've persisted for so long, so I wanted to know if they lived to the hype! Since November 2011 until July 2011 I've read 36 books, but (un)fortunately, my list simply keeps longer or I check off books that aren't on the original list! Funny how that always happens...

My last two books were "Deng Xiaoping and transformation of China" and "The Enigma of Japanese Power", and I'm always fascinated to learn how much of what one reads in books holds up in reality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach what I know of English, Spanish, German, Chinese, Arabic, and Korean (the latter 2 are just sounding and writing), or traveling cheaply, or analyzing oneself - I've done plenty of that. Anything you can teach me would be wonderful; I love learning new stuff.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lebanon, Peru, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, United States
