About Me
CURRENT MISSION
ABOUT ME
I like people, knowing their stories and connecting with them. And I continuously search for a balance between freedom and responsibility. I love the mountains, swimming in cold water and fireplaces. This year I finished my medical degree and I intend to start working next July. On the meantime, I'll be travelling with my partner through Scotland first and then Brazil.
What else can I say? I smile a lot and I believe that people are generally good. I like poetry and novels (reading more, but also writing), music (listening more, but also playing), cinema, art and politics.
I defend what I believe in and love a good debate. I think utopias are fundamental to keep us walking forward with hope of a different world, free from discrimination and exploitation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed in many places. I've had great experiences and not that great experiences. The one's that were, were totally worth it. I got to make real friends and to feel like a local in places I was seeing for the first time. I found people to laugh with, share rides and cups of coffee.
Interests
The moon was getting bigger. By my side, there was Portuguese wine, a book of Italian poetry and another of Mozambican. Music from India was coming from the speakers. Within my eye sight, there's was a tapestry made by Hutterites in Canada, a picture taken in Costa Rica, another one in São Tomé, John Lennon in New York brought from New York, a poster from Germany's left wing party, a scarf from Trinidad and Tobago given to me in Argentina, a blanket from Guatemala, a protest cardboard against the dictatorship in Angola demanding freedom, a newspaper article with my pictures from Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador, a painting made by a little girl in the communal house I lived at in Braga, Van Gogh postcards brought from Paris, a bottle of Kyrgyz vodka, hundreds of letters from Manitoba, books by authors from Japan, Brazil, Argentina and France, a Keith Jarret's album, my old grandfather's film camera, my mother's guitar, a painting I made based on a book by a Chinese author and an apparently immortal orchid. And suddenly, it was as if my world was condensed within my sight.

Music, Movies, and Books
Eduardo Galeano, Italo Calvino, Amin Malouf, Charles Bukowsky, Tonino Guerra, Paulo Leminsky, Ernest Hemingway, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, John Steinbeck, Jack London, Jack Kerouac, Emille Zola, Arthur Rimbaud. I love reading and I'm always finding new things.
As for music, I like a lot of different things.
I listen to a lot of African music: Ali Farka Toure, Toumani Diabate, Tinariwen, Amadou et Mariam, Girma Beyene, Danyel Waro and many others.
I also love music from South America: Mercedes Sosa, Victor Jara, Manu Chao, Calle 13, Caetano Veloso, Bixiga 70...
Jazz masters, like Bird and Dizzie, Miles Davis or John Coltrane are also on my list. And I love classic music, Debussy being one of my favourits.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't think experiences need to be ranked on a top 10 kind of scheme. I've done many different things, which ones of those were amazing only depends on the ears listening to them.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy a good conversation over beer and wine. My partner James usually does most of the cooking, but I can also share some treats. We also both play the guitar and sing and would love to find people to do with us.
