Overview
About Me
I left my home city in search of new experiences. I left Brazil looking for more. I like mixing pepper and chocolate, samba and electronic music, science and art. I am a curious person that doesn't need much to get excited, and that loves to learn different points of view. I am currently studying (working? it depends on what you call a post-grad..) at the UK, and I'd be happy to meet you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To live, to learn, to embrace every experience as new.
There is a concept in Zen Buddhism called Shoshin, meaning "beginner's mind". It refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner in that subject would. That goes not only for studying, but for everything in my life.
Interests
What do you know that I probably don't know? That would be it. Be it an important element of history that shouldn't be forgotten, or a quirk of some language or culture that doesn't even draw attention (those sometimes are the most interesting ones!) or any of those apparently random facts that make us who we are. I also sing, play, and love music and every instance and expression of it, and I'm inevitably hooked by science, and the ways that people have to understand the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like the pure, and I like the mix. Few things are more appealing to me than mashups and new interpretations of old themes. I like my media as my food: interesting but disguising appearance followed by surprising composition and taste. And that goes for movies, music and books.
Given that, lately I've been having some nu jazz, samba rock, as well as some good old blues. And daft punk. For books, my last ones were Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things, Oliver Sacks' The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat, one of the Discworld ones for sure and Freakonomics. I guess this is a nice summary. And movies.. I'd say Moon, Dogville, Star Wars and The Prestige.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can play the guitar, the ukulele, general percussion, and I'll try to play whatever makes any sound. I'm also very keen on learning and sharing any new skill, be it a dance move, a word or a new dish. Or even the address of a place with good cheap food!
