Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in Lisboa, but I'm currently living in Göttingen, doing my master's degree in mathematics. Since I moved here I sort of started living the life of a hermit, studying during the day, reading at night, hiking on weekends and going to the weekly concerts at the beautiful Hahnenklee Stabkirche on Thursday evenings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started using it back when I was 18 and solo traveling for the first time. I guess at the time I had it in me to try the most absurd things, and couchsurfing seemed like one of them. Then, as time went by and I became less adventurous, couchsurfing also became more natural in a proportional way. Everything balanced itself out, huh?

Music, Movies, and Books
In the past couple of years I became more interested in classical music, especially opera. I try to go to the opera at least once a month now. I also love jazz and some types of rock (psychedelic, post-rock, shoegaze, indie in general...). Tom Waits will always be special to me.
I love literature. Some of my favorite writers are James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Umberto Eco, Nuno Bragança (an obscure and underrated Portuguese writer)...
I'm not a big cinephile, but I'm trying to watch more movies lately. I had a thing for spaghetti westerns when I was younger, the excellent Ennio Morricone soundtracks contributed to that of course. I really like Fellini and Wes Anderson, some of my favorite films are by them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent a week in an Iban longhouse in the jungle of Borneo (thanks to couchsurfing!)
We took baths in the river, went fishing and drank langkau (Iban moonshine). They taught me how to cook with an improvised bamboo pot and a bonfire
Read Ulysses in the original
Teach, Learn, Share
I have nothing useful to teach, so here's a random mathematics fact:
It's possible to paint any map using only 4 colors, without any of the same color places touching each other.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Conversations, deadpan humor, my questionable cooking skills. I always offer a cookie or two if I'm eating some.
Love talking about books and music, discussing philosophy and jamming with other musicians, if that interests you.
