About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learning...by studying cultural anthropology, teaching at primary schools and of course travelling!

ABOUT ME

I am a primery school teacher. I love travelling. I have travelled a lot in Africa, Central- and South-America, the Middle East and Asia. Last year I travelled 7 months through Asia. After that I started a pre master in cultural anthropology at Utrecht university. I am 28 years old, married, no kids yet. I love reading, hiking, swimming and eating yummie food.

PHILOSOPHY

be honest and think! Too many people just live the life others expect them to have. Make your own decisions.

Interests

I'm a primary school teacher. I combine teaching with travelling so I work at a lot of different schools. I have travelled and worked in Africa for 6 months, spend 6 months in Central- and South-America, 6 months in the Middle East and Asia and another 7 months in Asia. At the moment I study cultural anthropology as well as teaching at several primary schools. I love reading books, watching nature documentaries, hiking and swimming.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love talking to people about their culture and the situation in their country. Four years ago I visited Iran. I have talked with a lot of people about the demonstrations against the regime. Two women spontaneously picked me up and gave me a lift to the bus station. They told me their backs were beaten blue, but on Friday they would drive to Tehran again (500 km!) and not give up. This is much more personal than seeing a story on tv.
What stuck me was the poverty in India. Once a very thin boy asked me for money. I was talking with a German doctor at that moment and he told me this kid could not be saved, not even if we would bring him to the best hospital. He would surely die. Then I realize how lucky I am to be born in a safe, rich country.
