About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a final year student at the Uni of Manchester, doing East Asian Studies. I've a passion for foreign cultures and languages so traveling/hosting while sharing our experiences with new people is something that's perfect for me.:)
I'm also really interested in environmentally friendlier ways of living, and trying hard to be more conscious about how I live my life and the choices I make. Not quite there yet, but progress over perfection, right?

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others how you'd like to be treated, and all that jazz. I'm a firm believer in trying to live life to the fullest while causing the least possible harm to others and our surroundings.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm intent on trying to get an authentic experience of whatever place I'm visiting, support the local culture and businesses, and get to know the people and their everyday lives. I aim to at least try to make a genuine connection, and so far had amazing times with the people I came across.:) I'm not a huge fan of the whole mass-consumption oriented, touristy and rushed kind of traveling. Not that there's anything wrong with that! I'd just rather "get lost" in a place and try to get to know it in an organic way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted quite a few people so far, and surfed a few more times, all of them were great experiences, I've made unforgettable memories and some true friends! Recently, I've been busy with work and uni but I hope to do both again sometime.:)

Music, Movies, and Books

I have favourites in every genre. Yet, having said that, I tend to prefer rock/punk/metal/metalcore/jazz/gaelic/traditional Japanese or Chinese music.
I'm always open to recommendations though, and imho good company can always make me up for the difference in our tastes.
Even got hooked on kpop parties for a while, dancing is a great weakness of mine.:')

I have an endless list of favourite books and writers, so if you care to exchange opinions on literature I'm always open to that. Though my forever favourite creators can come up with anything, and I'll probably love it. Some of them are: Poe, Wilde, Orwell, Huxley, Salinger, Slawomir Mrozek, Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, Natsume Soseki, Yoshimoto Banana, Natsuo Kirino, Murakami Haruki, Frank Herbert, Rowling, Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, George R.R. Martin, Bryan Lee O'Malley, Dave McKean, Joe Hill, Darren Shan, Nick Hornby, Ellen Hopkins, David Levithan, Dia Reeves...

It's also hard to choose a favourite movie (or director, I usually pick according to them), but the ones that I could (and probably have) watched a countless times are Reservoir Dogs, Donnie Darko, Snatch, Lord of the Rings triology, Star Wars 1+4,5,6, Batman Dark Knight, Avengers, A Knight's Tale and The Breakfast Club.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

in Budapest, we used to climb up to the top of the city and watch the city lights slowly go out above the bridges of the Donau as the sunlight reaches them. i'll never get bored with that view, and will always be able to remember the fireflies and the smell of the trees in the background - as much as my drunk friends' stupid but hilarious jokes.

in secondary school, i was volunteering as a language tutor for migrants and refugees for a while, and i will never forget the kindness, cleverness and enthusiasm of them who did not have proper textbooks but one of the world's most difficult languages to learn, and yet they were still patient, hard-working, and some of the most interesting ppl I've ever met.

Teach, Learn, Share

I quite like to experiment with FX make up, so if you had an interest in looking like a zombie for fun, I’d gladly test my (very beginner) skills on you.:)

I could also practice some Japanese calligraphy with you, or teach you some Hungarian swearwords. Both are very useful in any real life situation, I can assure you.

On a different note, I really enjoy baking and sharing recipes.:)

Also tremendously interested in architectural styles, and love to explore old, tarnished buildings and historical places.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a fairly extensive interest (knowledge might be bit of a stretch) in tea ceremonies and different types of coffee. Also, I make tasty spicy vegan food, or so I’m told.☺️

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Romania, Scotland, Slovakia, United States, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In
