My name is Franco, paraguayan born and raised
In March 2015, when I just turned 18, I decided to leave my comfortable life in Paraguay and came to Europe, start something new, see how's the world out of my country's borders. I spent 6 months travelling across several countries before start the University, to finally end in Italy. My family is from Scicli, a small and amazingly beautiful town in Sicily, but during the war my grandparents had to run and they went to Paraguay in a 3 months boat trip. That's one of the reasons I chose Italy, I wanted at least to learn the language and speak it fluently, as my roots, blood (and my passport), comes from this land :)
After 9 years in Europe (2 in Italy, 5 in Belgium and 2 in Sweden), I'm back to Paraguay 🇵🇾

I love music, I play the guitar, I make my own music (sometimes) that is a mix of everything I like. As all of you I love travelling, every time I find cheap tickets to go somewhere, it doesn't matter where, I just book it and plan a route. I try to go and discover a new place at least every once in a while. I also love football, as every southamerican. Lately I'm very much into boating, I spend a lot of time in the river. I love nature, open air landscapes, beaches, I love fishing in remote and peaceful places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I think going to see a place is more than what you can see with your eyes, live with a culture and life style completly diffrent is something you can't learn studing, you have to live it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One day I had breakfast in Sofia (Bulgaria), lunch in Milan (Italy) and dinner in Moscow (Russia) 🙂
I did an entire round to the world in 33 days
I've been to every country in Europe
I've visited the 7 wonders of the world
I completed two rounds to the world, one westwards and one eastwards

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share some paraguayan culture, experiences, play the guitar, bass, drink a cold tereré :) Teach spanish and guarani (native lenguage of Paraguay)

After a decade of insane travelling pace (I'm planning on hitting 100 countries this year-you can see below the bulk of countries listed 😅), I decided to slow down. Which means I'll try to spend most of the year in Paraguay, to recharge and reconnect ( also I started a business so jokes on me when it comes to having time spare for other things). In retrospect, CS and this beautiful community definitely had my back and, to an extent, made my globetrotting possible and got me to archive things I couldn't have dreamed of otherwise. So I would love to give back more now that I'm here. If you read all my essay up to this point 🤠 the only thing I want you to write on your request is why is it that you want to visit Paraguay? What brings you here? I'm genuinely curious as we are a small island surrounded by tourism powerhouses wherever you look. So yep that's it, I'd love to read your motivation and hopefully see you here in Asunción :)
