About Me

Hi! I'm François, I'm 22 and I'm new here. I'm originally from Belgium, but have moved a lot throughout my life. Right now, I'm living in Paris, where I study philosophy. I speak fluent French and English, and have taken up German this year. I also understand a bit of Dutch. I enjoy travelling (surprinsing, I know), eating, reading, swimming, and wasting my life away watching videos of fluffy animals. I also like to go out and look at dogs. I don't dare to pet them though, I'm more of a passive beholder.
I'm usually reserved until you get to know me, but will always gladly listen and respond to any calls/questions directed to me.
I enjoy dancing as long as I don't get too self-aware about it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on this site/app to travel with my bro Raphael this summer. I hope to meet a lot of new and interesting people and be confronted with cultures and experiences which will be thought-provoking as well as constructive, and of course to have lots of fun in the process!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: right now I'm listening to Radiohead, Death Grips, The Black Madonna, Lil Yachty, Frank Ocean.... I don't have specific tracks in mind though.
Films: I watched The Handmaiden not too long ago which I found excellent. Otherwise I enjoy Aronofski films, especially The Fountain, studio Ghibli movies, and I've been enjoying the more recent wave of high-grossing yet thoughtful movies relating to science fiction such as The Martion, Interstellar and Arrival.
Books: I mostly read philosophy works. Some of my recent favorites are Adorno and Horkheimer's Dialectic of the Enlightenment and Foucault's History of Sexuality.
